                Hello everyone,

As the title states I have recently found a cat who came to my door step time and time again. My wife told me about this cat after a few encounters. She said I would fall in love with it and take it in. She was right. It can't be more than a few months old, and when I saw it, i knew we had to keep it! For a stray cat it was very calm and followed me when i "Kitty, kitty kittied" it. (lol). Remember, i'm a rookie cat owner and have no experience what-so-ever with cats. It was INFESTED with fleas. They were crawling on here face, everywhere. We gave it a bath and she didn't put up a fight at all. I went out immediately and bought a litter box and all the essentials.

I was amazed to see she had no problem using the litter box from the moment we got it. I never had to clean a litter box before, but she puts my 25 lb. dog to shame everyday. We will be taking her to the vet to have him neutered as soon as we can. The dog and cat get along fine, he listens, sleeps on my chest at night. We couldn't have asked for a better cat. I'll be looking around the forums for some tips and suggestions for how to keep him entertained and happy too. I hope i'll find some great answers on more of a "starter kit" for new cat owners on here.

Before I leave, I have to give some homage to my wife. She adopted our dog from a shelter, and the vet there said they had no idea what kind of dog breed he was, but gave it a good home and is still healthy at 12 years old. We plan on doing the same with this cat. :)

I look forward to growing as a cat owner on here.

Welcome!  we would love to see a picture of your fur babies... I like rescue cats, and the ones that find us are the best ones.  You can bet that cat watched you before she ever approached you. Even hungry cats can be very selective.

Welcome to our Forums!

Your cat may have had owners once, and got astray or got dumped.   Although, she COULD also be born outside.

Anyways, knowing she was in a desperate situation, she was eager to find help, and thus, to please herself in.   This is surely a part why everything went as easily and nicely.  Im also sure you, by good instinct and good heart, did all the right moves.  Cats and dogs do often feel it the rescuer having a good will, and thus, they do copy even in unpleasant moments alike being at the vet or being bathed, if they arent stricken by sheer panic.
