They are now calling for up to 20" where I am in New Jersey.

So happy it's not a work day. It's going to take forever to clean it up, even with the snow blower.

It was pretty terrible. I'd never seen my dad cry. Dad's just didn't do that. They were strong. Mum told me
he did again when I left England. I remember the accident as I was 21 and adored my granddad. In my religion the male blood relatives don't shave for a month. My dad's beard came through pure white.
Any case this is about you. Be careful please.
Thank you!  I will be careful.  In fact, I just called out for today.  It's still snowing just a little bit and our street is still white.  The snow plow came through once yesterday and scraped right before it began sleeting and freezing rain for several hours.  I guess he did more harm than good.

I worry about how cold it would be if the power should go out but also I am very concerned about the food in the fridge, I wouldn't want everything to get spoiled.  I am already getting stressed about all of this.
I would, if it came to it, put the food outside to act like a fridge. I am so sorry you are all going through this, I cannot envision that amount of snow! Here in Nebraska we had 7" a few weeks ago and

that was bad! My thoughts are with you all.

We're near the Delaware River in New Jersey. Snow started about 8:30 p.m. yesterday. Twelve hours later, here's an image of my husband's snow gauge.

And it is still coming down with enthusiasm.

Stay safe everyone and remember that we love pictures. :lol3:

The predicted snow totals in my area have been upped to 6-12". That's nothing like the rest of you.

Paul enjoys the snow as long as it's out there and he's in here! [emoji]10052[/emoji]️[emoji]10052[/emoji]️[emoji]10052[/emoji]️

High winds and moderate snow here in Maryland. Power remains on! [emoji]128077[/emoji]

Norachan, What stunning photos!

Keep an eye out for that Abominable Snow Cat! We would all love to see pictures! I bet s/he has huge snowshoe tufts between the toes.

Where my cats are
My Grandfather just called to see how we are doing.  I don't even know how much snow we have.  With the drifting it's too hard to tell.  I've seen deeper here.  It's been coming down sideways at times.  My bird feeder has been constantly busy. We're going to have to refill it later.  I haven't opened the back door to take any pictures because I don't want to scare them off.  Some are taking shelter right up next to the screen door where they are out of the wind a bit.  The wind woke up up at least once last night.  I heard the gusting other times too.

My mother lives 20 minutes from me and she said their front door was blocked; but the wind had cleared part of the yard for their dog to go outside to potty.  Poor old girl is about 15 now. She did NOT want to go out!

I'm just happy to keep the power on.  Our street has been plowed at some point.  One of the neighbors has a plow on their old suburban and they've been doing a few driveways.  DH and I aren't going out yet.  With all this blowing; I'm betting as soon as it hits my kids in the face they'll want to be back inside.  Tomorrow they can play while we shovel.  They have good kid size shovels so I'll have them do the walkways.
As long as it's not too deep for them to walk in.  As my friend's daughter said "This is too much when your this short."

Here in New Jersey I can no longer measure the snow as the snow gauge (14 inches tall) my husband made is completely buried.

I was concerned about feeding the small ground-feeding juncoes and sparrows that won't perch on the column feeder. He disappeared into the basement, banged around for a bit, and came up with this magnificent flying saucer bird feeder made from two trash can lids.

It has three legs which extend into the snow about as much as they extend upward to support the roof. Yes, snow does blow in from the sides but the little birds can scratch through it. I had to go out once already, to lift and rotate as the lip was becoming covered in the still falling snow. What a clever, considerate husband I have!

I am pretty stunned and freaked right now.

All of my structures held overnight. Before bed, my friend helped me shovel 5 paths in the snow for the ferals.

Today I did a check and the feral I watching wasn't in his safe little spot ! And what's annoying is I can pat myself on the back for some excellent "bushcrafting"

The shelters and the floors are dry and snowfree, while a foot away there are 3 foot drifts !

So no cats anywhere to be seen.

And no one is in neighborhood is a cat person like me. So the only places I can imagine them hiding out would be sewers

It's beautiful outside, but the winds and the snow falling are really something to battle.

If anyone has advice or warm words I'd appreciate it.

I am sure the feral have found shelter elsewhere. They know where to go and shelter in place, no matter how hard ou try to keep them near you. It is the 'wild' instinct.

Snow's still coming down!!

Earlier this morning...

Photos from just now..

I seriously hope my co-op has plans to hire people to clear us out.. Last year's storm, they had people continuously dig and snow-blow, even all night long. No one today.. I hope they'll clear us out tomorrow.. I have NO idea how they plan on doing it. The photo above is the sidewalk in front of the cars.. I could not even get off my porch to take a better photo.

BTW, that's my Jeep buried under the snow, just so you get an idea of how high it's at. The drift is literally up to my chest!

Awful lot of snow at once, there should be rule about how much snow can come at once and amount should be no more than 1 inch! :D

I read from paper that it is forecast to be worst in 90 years for New York, but sometimes our magazines cannot be trusted.

I guess some parts are not very well equipped for snow clearing if it rarely snows much, even here southern part of country is always having issues if there is lot of snow at once, but our amounts are not much compared to some of you, I think that never 2 feet at once and very rarely it gets to 3 feet during the peak total.

Sorry about the quote looking funny, I typed in the wrong spot I guess.

Holy moly! Stay safe!!! That just makes me worried for my family. They live in NJ and CT; my twin brother called this morning, worried about ME. I live in WVa,but the northwestern part. My twin was expecting 6-8 inches, but I'm glued to the weather channel and he's right in an area where they've already gotten a foot and are getting 2-3 inches an hour. My sisters got 15-18 inches and the forecast is another 6-8 inches before stopping. We got 8-10 inches, but we were only supposed to get 2. The bottom two inches is icy snow. Thank god the storm will end for you all soon. The clouds cleared out here already--just like that.

We have at least 2 feet; I think it's more than 30", though. It's still snowing and blowing.

NY has declared a state of emergency. Only emergency vehicles are allowed on the roads (As of 2:30 today). I can hear the plows continuously go down the road.

The drift alone on the sidewalk (pictured above) is at least up to my chest. No idea how we're going to get cleared out! I believe we have more than 2 feet as well.. and still counting. ugh.

They're talking about a final accumulation of as much as 40 inches outside Baltimore. When did I move to Albany, New York and why don't I remember it? [emoji]128513[/emoji]
