Hey y'all,
I've been on and off of this forum for several years and pulled up a few old topics on the subject of atopica, but Mikki just got back from a dermatologist (wish I could spend $300 on myself at a dermatologist haha), but she was perscribed Atopica for her back scabs for environmental allergies.

The vet's assistant thought she'd show us just how easy it is to shoot the syringe full of Atopica into Mikki's mouth....oh my... what a MESS let alone not an easy accomplishment for even the experienced assistant to hold Mikki still.

The vet suggested the different strageties such as strong tasting foods Mikki may let us sneak it into.. tomorrow we will be trying it but Mikki isn't easily fooled. Only hope, is we've not had her on ANY fish for 2 months, to test that allergy...so maybe she'll crave the fish and we can sneak it in that.

Any success stories of administering the liquid? I told hubby, if it's as bad of an experience giving it to her as it was at the vet's office... we may eventually weigh what's worse? Having her spit and throw up every day going through that ordeal...or a few scabs on her back that she's been living with!

fI've never personally used it... is it something that cats don't like, or is it in a flavor they do like? I know some are like mint flavored and I don't think they like that.

If you haven't already, definitely try what they said about the strong smelling food. Just use a TINY amount of food though because you want to make sure she gets all the medicine. Tuna juice might work too (either alone or on top of the food you are using). Or even catnip.

thank you. Well, the good thing is, she hasn't been on fish for 2 months due to we were seeing if she was allergic to it...and now that we know it's not food related, hubby put 1/2 of the medicine into her dinner..using the fish. She gobbled it. I don't know if she'll catch on..but at least it tells me..it's not too gross for her to eat, sooooo we can now at least not feel bad putting it in her food. Fingers crossed she'll keep this up, it'd be amazing!

That is great that she is eating it! I swear that is such a battle sometimes. Just make sure she eats all the food you put the medicine in. That was why I was saying a small amount of food.
