He goes in his litter box, but he has bowel movements 4 maybe 5 times a day. He also urines a lot, but I thinks that's because he enjoys water, a lot. His diet is friskys indoor. He likes it, and gets maybe 1 or 2 cup bowl a day, he dosent eat all day. He picks his times, but his bowl is never left empty. Long story short he fills the litter box, and a lot of bowl movents I'm not sure it's normal,,,,,, also...and I've ran through every brand litter, and I can't find an inexpensive one to help conceal the smell a bit. I clean the litter box twice a day, I'd like to do it once a day. And it's just him in the house. Any input?

I use Fresh Step Clumping Multi Cat.

You should think about switching him to wet food.  It's MUCH better for him and might help with his odoriferous feces.

How old is he?  Excessive thirst could be an indication of kidney disease.

Or diabetes. Friskies Indoor dry food is very high carb which can affect how well the pancreas works at producing insulin. And it's high calorie so 2 cups of food daily is a huge amount of food and can cause obesity even if your cat just grazes on it all day.

I suggest a trip to the vet to rule out any possible health issue that is causing the frequent urination.

Litter boxes should be cleaned out at least twice a day. Cats don't like to use a dirty box and may do their business on the floor if they deem the litter box too dirty for comfort. It takes just a minute to scoop the clumps out. I'm sure you have a minute in the morning and a minute in the evening to scoop the box out

Yeah, could be so many different things. Definitely warrants a visit to the vet.

Some questions - is he eating a lot? Has his weight fluctuated? Does the litter box smell more from the pee or the poo (yes, there's a reason I ask!)?

Regardless of what the answers are though, I'll reiterate - take him to the vet. Your vet may ask these questions also as well as others.

It's not diarea, it's regular poop. I don't mind cleaning it twice a day, but Ive been vigorously cleaning it multiple times a day more than twice. But he's going to the vet soon to find out. He's young, 10 months old he's a very long cat. He dosent seem to be fat, and also is very very active. I'm going to try wet food, give it two weeks see how it settles his belly, and see what the vet says. I appreciate everyone's Input. [emoji]128536[/emoji]

And as for his water intake, I think it's just because he really likes cold water.

I think 1-2 cups of food is a lot, too. That probably should be cut in half. But, as everyone has suggested, have the vet check him out first.

As far as litter is concerned, I use Arm & Hammer Clump and Seal for Multi-cats. It seems to be the best in controlling odor. I also sprinkle some extra baking soda on it. I don't clean it out as often as the rest of you do
because I put it down in the basement.

Poor quality food can cause horrible stinky poop
Grains, fillers, by products, etc can all cause stinky poop. Frikskies is cheap but really poor quality. No different from junky fast food IMO. A higher quality food that has real meat and ideally no grains and no fillers can make a huge difference. There are decent affordable brands you can buy at pet stores. There's nutrition forum here on TCS if you need help with choosing a new food.
