Front leg joint issue - Leg splint, wrap, boot, etc. recommendation?

So, my cat is 9-1/2 years old.  About 6 years ago she suffered some sort of neurological event.  After some research and some advice on here, I think my cat suffered from a bout of encephalitis.  Back then, the Vet eventually came to the conclusion that it was a stroke, but looking back from the whole story, I think it was encephalitis.

Anyway, one of the residual effects from her neurological event is a desensitized right side.  For the last 6 years she has walked with a slight limp, rolls her wrist a bit and takes short steps with her rear right leg.  When you touch the little hairs on her paws on her right side she doesn't "flinch" like cats normally do.

Now, a few days ago she took a spill of the back of the recliner and hurt her (desensitized) right front leg bad.  It was so bad she just cried and cried over everything and she had a terrible limp and didn't want to do anything.  By the end of the day I could see was improving with rest and I figured it was a bad sprain.

It's been a few days and she seems pretty good sometimes and she limps worse sometimes and it seems to be related to her jumping up on things (like the couch) and then jumping back down.  Watching her, she leads with her desensitized (and now sprained?) side when she jumps off something and that leg/wrist/foot is taking all the weight.

Like I said originally, she has always (since her mystery illness) had some sort of limp but over the last year or so it's varied a little bit from barely noticeable to somewhat noticeable.  I really didn't think much of it but now am wondering if she has been injuring and reinjuring it for a while now?

Just thinking out loud what should I do, if anything, as a precautionary measure?  She isn't getting any younger and I don't want her to have to deal with a joint issue as she gets older.  I see online that they have little splints and/or walking boots for cats with neurological issues and things like that to keep them from knuckling and keep their leg in a proper position.  Should I be getting one of these and does anyone have any experience with them?  Anything else to consider?  Maybe some sort of supplement for joint health?

We've already minimized the things she can jump on and made easy spots for her to jump down so now her biggest jump is about 18 inches on to padded carpet.

Thanks for any advice or help!

Honestly I think a brace for support will really be helpful.

Something like an ace bandage, but you need to be careful it's tight enough to be supportive but not too tight, there is a fine line as anyone who has worn an ace bandage before knows.

You would want to rewrap often, then shortly after feel her paw pads to be sure they don't feel colder then her others.

At least to help her heal her injury now it would probably help quite a bit.

Either that or contain her which she will hate of course.

Thank you for the suggestion.  I have an ace bandage and will try it right now.

I should have mentioned that her previous neurological illness left her with some behavioral issues.  She definitely isn't a lap kitty.  We can pet and scratch her.  She will play a little and show us a little affection, but if you pick her up or try to impose even the slightest bit of will on her she will tear you up.  The last 6 years have really been a pain actually but we are committed to her living the fullest life possible.

I was looking online and found some things that look like this.....

I was thinking maybe something like this might be easier to put on and take off.  Maybe it would help her heal up and maybe it would be good for her to wear quite often considering she seems to have some sort of issue with that leg/foot as it is.

Has anyone used one of these on a cat and does anyone have suggestions or recommendations about them?  I think one that supported her up to the bottom of her mid-leg joint would be best.  This would seem to give her the most mobility and support the "wrist" joint that I think is the issue.

This is very cool and really what she needs.

Although it looks like she would still need her leg wrapped, not sure on that, whether the straps would wear on her leg and cause sores or not, but maybe if you were to cushion them with something very spongy attached permanently it would be fine. Then it wouldn't need to come off and redone daily either.

Hot glue gun! You wouldn't want the spongy part to shift at all, but yes. I think this would be a great solution!

Thank you for the input.  I'm ordering on of these today or tomorrow and using the bandage until I get it in the mail.
