When i was a kid I loved oreos and I love Oreo type desserts, ice cream etc. but, if I am going to splurge on a cookie these days, I want a good homemade cookie or a good one from a bakery.

I LOVED oreos.

I had some recently.. and they do not taste the same anymore. I guess they changed the ingredients or something. made me sad.

They are bringing back the Red Velvet Oreos and they're coming out with a Cinnamon Bun-flavored Oreo. And a new "top secret" flavor.

Rick does NOT need to know this!! :lol3:

I watch a lot of food reviews on Youtube and one of the reviewers who seems to have very similar tastes to mine just did a review of the cinnamon bun ones. He was VERY underwhelmed by them. he said that the cookie tastes like a graham cracker but a weaker version and could not taste any cinnamon in the filling. I'm going to pass. I think that the best new flavor that they have come out with is the birthday cake. Those ones are dangerous.

Rick is a huge Double Stuf fan. I can eat them, but if they don't come into the house, it's fine by me. I haven't tried the Birthday Cake ones....and now I want one!

The lemon ones are really good, too.

I've been a double stuf fan for a long time. I never buy the regular ones. Why when they have the DS?

but then... a new Oreo hit the shelves and..

The birthday cake ones are better. I've never tried the vanilla ones but the chocolate ones are my new go to when I need a fix. I'm sorry double stuf. It's been great and I'll always love you but I've found another :lol3:

What does a Birthday Cake Oreo taste like?

I like Oreos, but I'm the oddball that likes the cookie more than the stuff. So no "double-stuff" for me. I love the Thins that they came out with though! Especially the mint ones.

The filling is little more vanilla-y than the regular ones and they have sprinkles in them. They really do taste like cake frosting. they are delicious. I take 2 of them, remove one of the wafers from each and put the 2 together. So good.

By the way, did you know that Oreos in the US (with the exception of the fudge/white fudge covered ones) are vegan? That makes them "vegetables" so they are good for you. ;) :lol3:

I love chocolate covered oreo's. I just wish they made them like they use to with the whole cookie instead of just half.

Something I always wanted to try is deep fried oreo's. They have them at the Ohio State Fair every year but I have never gone.

I think that they only sell the whole Oreos dipped in fudge or white fudge around Christmastime. Those are good too.

Make them yourself. This way you can use any flavor of Oreo you want.

Make up a standard pancake batter. Homemade or boxed. With boxed, I like to add a little pure vanilla extract to the batter. It gives it a more homemade taste.

Dip the Oreos in the batter

Fry

Eat

:clap2:

Do you mean the fudge ones?  The fudge mint are my favorite!!  The regular fudge are good; but if I'm getting the chocolate covered I want the mint with it. They've been harder to find lately.

Otherwise I love the original oreos.  I have to dunk them in milk!  And I don't have much self control when I eat them so I try not to buy them.  I've done some fun projects with my kids with them.  Dirt cups and that sort of thing.

Oreos were always my step-dad's favorite cookie.  We didn't always have them around; but when we did, you better keep the rows in the package even!!
He was so adamant about that when we were all kids living at home. I guess there is a little OCD in all of us.
My Mom and Step-dad don't eat much sugar anymore and follow a mostly vegan diet; so you don't find that kind of treat around their house.  Mom does get little things for the kids.  Her baking is always better anyway!

I did like the lemon with vanilla cookie ones they had out.  Every now and then I crave something sweet and lemon.  Those did the trick!

I'd try the cinnamon bun ones; but I'm not sure how I'll like them.  Mom had a rule when I was a kid; I had to try new foods.  If I didn't like it I didn't have to eat it; but I had try.  Fortunately I like almost everything.
That doesn't work as well on my kids so my rule is if you liked it before you will eat it again.
Oh; and you have to eat at least 3 bits to say you don't like something. Nibbles don't count.

The stores around here seem to have Oreos on sale all the time lately, so I've been buying them a lot to, you know,  "save money".
Has to be the original ones.  No double stuff. And definitely not the low fat.

I may have to stop "saving money" though,  because they are too addictive, and all the money I'm "saving" may have to go towards buying a larger pair of jeans!

When I was a teenager 20 some years ago they were just chocolate covered whole oreo's. They were hard to find. I think the last time I saw them was 16 years ago while I was pregnant. Any way they are like the fudge covered ones now.

I never had the lemon but I like the peanut butter ones.

Oreos are my very favorites. Haven't tried the thins, but to me the best part of the oreo is the filling, and I don't think I'd like a small filling.
