So a couple of weeks ago, we successfully switched Chewie from Whiskas wet food to Blue Buffalo Wilderness kitten food. He's been eating that no problem, and we also have been giving him some plain cooked chicken at night, for dinner. The last couple of days, he hasn't been eating his food as much, so we gave him some Whiskas to see if he would eat, and he ate that. Today, he tried to steal a cookie, and I have no idea where he even found a cookie. I really hate feeding him Whiskas, because it makes his poop smell. He also has just been odd lately, some of play aggression has gotten worse, and we do really play with him. He also has been climbing on EVERYTHING. He has a cat tree. I have no idea, but all of this started when he started eating less of the blue buffalo. Any ideas?

Do you only feed him one kind of food? Lots of cats (like ours!) get bored if all they get fed is one kind. I might try feeding Chewie a few different canned foods and rotating them so he can have more variety.

Everyone keeps telling us to feed him kitten food, because he's only 6 months old. We trying to keep hi, on the blue buffalo, because he seemed to like that brand. It's hard to find food for him, because he won't anything with seafood in it. We also leave a bowl of dry food out for him to free feed.

We're trying to keep him as healthy as possible, because when we got him, he was so skinny.

Well, you went from a lower quality food to a higher quality food. Congratulations on the successful transition!

When you switch your animal to a food that has more nutrition and less fillers, they tend to eat less and become more active because they are getting the nutrition they are supposed to be getting. Their tummies feel good, so their mind feels good and so does their body. :) So, it's normal that he doesn't eat as much Blue as the Whiskas. When I switched mine to Blue (they were on Friskies) more food was left in each of their bowls after each feeding (sometimes I didn't have to replenish their bowls for the second feeding!).

You may also want to supplement his feedings with wet food. You can try Chicken, Turkey, Duck, etc... flavored foods (of different brands too without much trouble). It's great that he doesn't like seafood as it can become addicting to cats, plus seafood has a higher mercury content (some fish more than others), which isn't good for kitties as a constant/main source of nutrition.

Most lower quality foods make animal poop smell worse... Sometimes even higher quality foods can make their poop smell bad too if it doesn't sit right with your kitty's tummy.

My kittens (who is now 9 months old) play aggression got worse around 6 months, and only started to mellow out at about 8.5 months. He's pretty mellow now unless you agitate him or if he's already agitated or if you try to brush/comb him. Just keep playing with him and his kitten-ness will start to subside in a few months.

Animals are like us. We get tired of the same foods, and so do they; they like variety. You can switch up his flavor of food as long as you keep him on Blue. If you want, you can mix the flavors for about 4 to 7 days, in case one flavor has more protein than the other.

Last thing, I noticed my kitten didn't like his Blue Wilderness Kitten food. I tasted a kibble piece and it's pretty bland compared to the Life Protection he's on now. You can try using Freedom, Basics, or the Life Protection Formula Kitten formulated foods.

Hope this helps! :)
