I have to be at the hospital at 6:30 AM; I am having a total knee replacement - left knee.  I need both done, this is the worse of the 2

Last time I was in hospital was the day I was born.   :scared:  I will be in hospital 2 to 4 days then inpatient rehab for 1 to 2 weeks.  Then home and PT will continue at home until I can drive at which point I can go to on site PT.

I have a pet sitter business to care for my Baker's Dozen.

And I have a thousand things to do before all this happens in the AM!!

Will definitely be thinking about you! I've had two knee surgeries, though neither the extent of TKR (lat release and then repair for torn meniscus/scar tissue). However, I've been in PT with multiple people with TKR and they were all happy in their decision o have the surgery. My neighbor had the surgery 6 weeks ago and was happy with his decision as well.

I've known a couple of people who've had knee replacement surgery, and they were both very happy with the results. Gave them a new lease on life!
Good luck with the surgery tomorrow. I'm sure everything will be fine and they've done thousands of these operations, still it's very scary when it's you on the table, especially as you haven't had surgery before. :vibes:

Good luck with it! You will do great. My mom had it done a few years ago (after having both hips replaced). One of these days she'll get other other knee done. She had inpatient PT so she didn't have to worry about getting around at home when she was alone.

Good luck!!  The few people I know who have had them have had such good things to say afterward.  I hope you have a smooth, quick recovery!

Hi All,

I bought a cell phone, my first ever, for this surgery.  Can't stand the tiny screen and keyboard, plus Android works differently than Windows.  Sorry no updates prior to this.  This pic was in Rehab, 4 days post op.

I left the house at 6:15 AM on Jan 20, moved to Rehab on the 22d.  Pet sitter business tended to my Bakers Dozen (5 dogs and 8 cats) in my home.  I returned home on Jan 30 at 3:30.  Here is a video of the reunion with the dogs.  This went on for at least 20 minutes.  The cats, as you can imagine, were more of a "Meh, so your back, put some fresh food in the dish!"

Got up at 8 this morning, night was no worse than the last 3 in rehab, which is to say I was up and walking around the house often.  Pet sitter was here at 8:30, PT was here at 9 and Nurse is due at 11.  Cousin is coming to hang out, bringing lunch with her, for 11:30.  It is like Grand Central here!!!

What a spectacular reunion!  Your dogs are beautiful and they clearly love you dearly.

In a month you will be amazed at how far you've come with your knee replacement.  One of my best friends has had both done and it's given her her life back.

Best wishes for a smooth, painless recovery.

Wishing you the BEST!!

An old friend of mine, who is younger than me--50-60, just had her knee replaced in September. She is doing great...

I was told 4 years ago that I could have one, any time I wanted....I decided to wait it out...

my cousin had one, about 6 yrs ago and he has no issues at all..

His wife is having it done it March...

so it is very common..

I am certain you will do fine...

Keep us updated...

((hugs))

sorry, I did not read the entire thread...

so glad to hear things are going great!!
