Alright I will do! Also is medicine for babies/infants generally a big no for cats too? I heard about Pedialyte being good for dehydrated cats w/ low electrolyte levels, and thought I should buy some just in case I ever need it?

I actually thought it was a hairball at first. He's such a thorough groomer and is always either licking himself or my other cat, Indie. They both shed A LOT too. Also he isn't vomiting tonnes it's just rlly small bits like about a tea-spoon? Hmm I've looked at all the possibilities and nothing really adds up to all of his symptoms. Plus, the drooling doesn't make sense to me, because my other cat was sick a while back and he didn't drool? Or does it vary from cat to cat? Also the drooling kind of comes and goes? Sometimes it will be more and sometimes it will be a lot less. I'm continously cleaning his mouth to keep him clean, though, just so he's a little more comfortable. His gums are also the normal colour and warm too, so I guess that's a good-ish sign?

Anyway, Butty is sleeping at the moment and I'm doing my best to keep him warm. He's under the sheets as we speak. He hasn't vomited anything up since this morning, though is still drooling.

He probably hasn't vomited since this morning because his tummy is empty.

Very small amts of water now and then will absorb in to his body since it's not enough to fill in his tummy too.

The drooling is usually from nausea. Sometimes a sick cat isn't nauseated but then suddenly will vomit once it hits their tummy.

I'm hoping you can convince mom to get him seen, and as soon as possible.

He will deteriorate every day that he does not eat or drink.

Can you tell if he has a fever?

If you put the cat on your neck, does he feel much warmer then you?

Normal temp is just slightly higher then ours, which you can hardly feel, but if fever, it's much easier to tell the warmer temp over ours.

Hmmm alright!

I hope so too! I'm just glad that I found the dropper yesterday so I was able to make sure he was still getting enough fluids!

Also I'm trying to look for some baby food in the shops, but I don't think they have any... is there any substitute I could make at home that's runny and liquidy but still full of nutrients for him? Would chicken soup work?

I don't think he has a fever, no! He seems about my temperature when I put him against my neck!

He's very lethargic at the moment, though, not moving at all and refusing to stand. Whenevr you pick him up he just wants to sit back down again... I can tell he feels gross... :( It's heart-breaking seeing him like this... I'm going to wait another hour until eight (the vet will HOPEFULLY be up then) before I try giving the vets a call... Butty needs lots of positive vibes right now!

Actually chicken soup is fine.

At this point though, only having 1 more hour until the vet can be called, you might just continue keeping him warm and hydrated now.

Lots and lots of vibes coming your way, please let us know ASAP!

My Mum's gone out to look for some baby food at the moment, to see if he'll eat that! I'm a little unsure if we have it over here? But it's worth a look. If not I guess we'll just make some chicken soup and puree the chicken in a blender if that could work? And then dropper-feed him it? I just want to get /some/ food into him, I know how dangerous it can be if a cat doesn't eat for a while :(

Anyway, I've TRIED contacting the vet but he's still asleep by the looks of it... and the clinic opens at 12 so I can't get down there till then  This is really frustrating, it's meant to be an emergency clinic as well! Also, we may have another problem... I just remembered that Butty absolutely HATES strangers. Whenever we have guests over he freaks out and starts panicking if he's picked up and runs under the bed... will this be a problem when I take him to the vets? I don't want him to be in any more discomfort than he already is :/

Also, he's a lot more active today (still not as much as he is normally but there's DEFINATELY an improvement!) I've been dropper feeding him water every half-an-hour and I think that could be why he's a lot more alert. He's getting out from under the sheets now and having a little wander every so often, though still stops to rest a lot.

Also he vomited again about half an hour ago, though I think that could be because I accidently squirted too much water into him at once :S I feel so bad about doing that oh god... Anyway, I realised that before his vomit came out he was shivering kind of? I don't really know how to explain it it was like his whole body was just kinda tense for a brief second, as if he was straining? It was mostly concentrated around his chest/middle area I guess? Is this something I should worry about too or is that just him getting ready to vomit? Also this time it was a puddle of yellow, with yellow foam coming out after it...

We also found another phone number to a vet in another city about an hour from us. Mum's going to give him a call once he's awake, too, HOPEFULLY within the next hour or so (people over here sleep in till RIDICULOUS times it's utterly frustrating!)

Sorry for the late reply.

If you can't buy baby food, I would try blending some soft meats I. Cats can also have broccoli and peas if you don't have access to meat but if you have the chicken soup it could benefit him. Blend it into a paste, and then put a little on your finger, and wipe it over his lips. If you can put your finger on his teeth, that will be better should encourage him to lick and swallow but if he starts salivating badly again, stop and continue with the water.

I hope that you managed to get to a vet, if not just .. do your best with whats available to you.

Could he have eaten anything sharp is there blood in his spit or sick?

Is there anything that he could be allergic to in your environment, plants?

 hoping he gets better.

We couldn't find any baby food, we only found some with onions and garlic in, so that's a big no from me. I've made him some homemade chicken past though, as you said, by blending the chicken up! He took it AMAZINGLY and has so far held it down! He's a lot more energetic too, though if he moves around too much he starts shaking just a little, is this because he's still a little weak from all the vomiting? He's drinking water on his own now too, though he's drinking A LOT. Also he's having about half a cup of the soup in every sitting (I'm dropper feeding him -- it's a bit messy but at least he's eating!)

Also, he finally pooped! It was a little runny, kinda squish and goopy? And there was A LOT of it. Probably because he hasn't pooped in so long omg. Also I think I found the culprit to all of this -- a piece of string was in his poop! God knows how that got into him, but I'm glad it's out now. He probably accidently swallowed it when he was playing with my embroidery yarn, but that was a few weeks ago! I hope that this was all that he's eaten, and I think it was too. He's a lot more active now that he's pooped and he keeps trying to escape from the room I'm confining him in!

He did vomit just once before I went to bed last night, but he did nothing else after that! There's no blood in his vomit either, it's just pure yellow bile!

Is there any chance it might have been a worm?

Kittens do have worms and unless they are dewormed they will stay and sort of take over.

String is very dangerous, I would be sure he is unable to get in to the embroidery stuff, all the twists and turns of their intestines it usually won't make it through, it will often times winding around and cutting flow and blood supply off, which is deadly without emergency surgery if caught in time.

It was definately string, it was black just like the string that i made into a little ball for him. I thought with supervision cats could play with string or yarn, but oh gosh I'm NEVER doing that again :S I personally had to go through his poop with a stick though, until I found it, and it was pretty long too omg. I washed it in the bathroom sink and sure enough it was string! I'll be sure to make sure he doesn't come near my embroidery stuff again. I'm just glad that he at least managed to poop it out.

That would be fantastic if that was the culprit!!

He's shaking because he hasn't been able to keep down any nutrients. He's a bit weak, like you say. Are you able to prevent him from getting up and about too much, he needs to eat more and make sure there's no problems with his system before he tries to get up and about a lot.

He will be drinking a lot because he hasn't eaten either, try to prevent him from guzzling, it might irritate his stomach again. Keep on with the soup, if it's watery enough it will help to keep him hydrated. Its really good that he is improving. I would still be very careful with what he's allowed food wise for a couple of days, but you can increase the thickness of the paste a little if he is taking it well and then slowly allow him to drink on his own.  It's better to be safe than sorry and have a perfectly healthy cat irritated because he's confined to one room, than a poorly kitten you can't find.

If he has swallowed string then an x ray is important to make sure there is nothing left in his gut.

Aaaa alright, and also how often should I be feeding him the soup? Should I try and mimick the times he would normally eat or should I feed him more often? I don't want to feed him too much and make him be sick again, though :(

Alright I will do! Thankyou for the responses it really means a lot, and it looks like I'm on the right track so hopefully he'll continue to improve! I'll be sure to keep you updated, thankyou for all the feedback!

Oki doki, I'll have a talk w/ the vet about an x-ray too! Hopefully it's all out with his poop though.

Actually now if the problem was that piece of thread and it is now out, he should bounce back to being himself again, no more vomiting at all, so if there is any more please let us know.

So far there's been no more vomiting at all! He's holding his food down well and is starting to lick at it a little bit. He's also cleaning himself for the first time since he's been sick, so I guess that's a good sign too? Hopefully if he hasn't vomited by the end of today, I can safely say that he's well again. Fingers crossed!

How are things with Button now?

He should be close to normal at this point.
He's doing great! He was walking around a lot more and playing a lot too! His shaking has stopped as well and he managed to eat by himself at around about midnight! He even came to me mewling for food himself! :D

I'm glad he's doing well!

A similar thing happened with Link. He had a ball of yarn and ended up eating a piece. He exhibited signs of hairballs. About a week or so later, I found a piece of string in his room and skid marks on my carpet. So he tried to pass it and just scooted along the floor to get it out.
