Raise your hand if your COLD today!
I'm in fleece pajama pants and wool socks and I'm still chilly and thinking of hot tea!  I planned to make chili today; but i have chicken that needs to get used so that'll have to wait till tomorrow.

Do you like spicy foods?

I'm debating making a very small pan of buffalo chicken "lasagna."  I'm thinking of making it more baked ziti style than lasagna.  I'm the only one who will eat it; but it sounds so good right now!  I think I have everything on hand and I can use my smallest casserole dish to make just enough for me.

I go through phases where I'm craving something spicy.  We ordered "medium" wings this weekend when we had some people over. They were a bit of a disappointment.  They restaurant has great food; beyond pizza and wings.  But they left hardly any sauce in with the wings. They were nice and crispy; but lacking flavor.  I'm still disappointed.  Those are a treat and pretty expensive!  I wanted them to be good!

I do! But not so spicy I'm in pain after eating spoonfuls of sour cream. I also don't like eating peppers or onions or anything like that. Spices that are spicy are good. I just don't like the chunks lol.

I also LOVE curry! We have a lot of Indians where I work and I absolutely love when we have pot lucks. I can never remember the names of everything unfortunately, but I usually know the descriptions of what I like :) There is a little Thai place near my house that makes a mean curry fried rice that I love. They are also the only place I know of with spicy crab rangoon and spicy sweet & sour sauce, mmmm.

Oh, and along the lines of "buffalo chicken", I saw something on FB recently about having buffalo chicken egg rolls as appetizers (they named the Super Bowl specifically, but it can be anything). Just mix chicken from a rotisserie with buffalo sauce and ranch dressing, wrap in egg roll wrappers, and fry those babies. I so want to try that!

I do but my stomach does not any more.  So long spicier Thai food, atomic wings and jalapenos.

Love them! Love the Atomic Wings at Quaker Steak! Yum!

I understand that Quaker Steak now as a new hotter wing, but I forget what it's called. Triple Atomic Wings? 500,000 on the scale? We haven't been over there, so I haven't tried them. But I will!

Not really I don't have the palate for spicy foods so it's hard to enjoy them having to drink enough water or milk after just isn't enjoyable and my eyes get all watery.

I like mild salsa and chips but I mix it with sour cream so it's not that spicy. My brother enjoys spicy foods but he can handle them I just can't. I want to but like I said it's not enjoyable to chug some water or milk afterwards so I prefer not to eat spicy foods.

@ Kittens Mom I'm assuming that living in New Mexico means you do like spicy foods? I live in NM also and can't escape the hot authentic Mexican food. I've grown accustomed to spicy foods and now like some of them the milder spicy realm.

You try and escape it ??? Spicy yes. Hot not to the point where it's to see who can swallow without gagging. One should not need diaper rash ointment the day after enjoying a good meal.

Yes, I love spicy Indian and Mexican food, though up to a limit. In fact, I wouldn't mind some of either right now. Yum. Curry...

I prefer the smokey flavor of the red peppers as opposed to the sweetness of the green peppers like jalopenos. It really depends a lot on the spice and the way it used - spice is supposed to accent the flavor of the overall dish, not over-power it. I use a lot of different 'hot' spices, but when I cook with chili peppers or 'hot' spices, I like to 'toast' them in a dry skillet before adding it to the dish so its full aroma and oils come out; it adds depth to the flavor and you don't need as much of the spice to get the full affect. There are so many varieties available, so it depends on what I am cooking as to which spice(s) I use.

Berebere is a spice mixture whose constituent elements usually include garlic, ginger, basil, korarima, rue, ajwain or radhuni, nigella, fenugreek and a combination of red chili peppers. The African bird's eye chili or 'piri piri' (which means "a very hot sauce made with red chili peppers") grows in various regions of Africa. I started using Berebere back in the early 80's when my [then husband] introduced me to it. He is from Ethiopia and the spice was extremely difficult to get in the U.S. I have been ordering it online, but have recently discovered I can purchase it at an International food store about 30 miles from me. Yay!

I like spicy food as long as I can still taste flavor rather than nothing but heat.  I probably actually like food milder than many people.  I have never gone for the real hot food like the wings that you have to sign a waiver for.  I have never gotten into things like the ghost peppers.

 So true though.

Thats probably how I like it most of the time.  There are a few things I like a bit on the hotter side.  One or two things are "worth" the pain later.  That's probably once a year or less type thing.  I sometimes add a bit of buffalo sauce to macaroni and cheese or to ranch dipping sauce.  It adds flavor and changes it up a bit; but it doesn't come back to haunt me later.

Same here. I've got 5 ulcers, and just cannot stomach that stuff. (okay, bad pun, I know...)

I'm learning to get a pepcid before I eat tomato products.

Sure would be great if those things worked for me, but Pepcid seems to do is just make my ulcers angrier.

Ouch!  Fortunately the heartburn isn't that bad for me.  It seems to come either when I've been under a lot of stress or when I've been eating a lot of acid based things.  The wings we had Saturday and Sunday didn't bother me at all.  The peppers didn't either.

I don't know what my father does or how he stands it; but he LOVES the really hot and spicy stuff.  I know he takes a medication for it.  One of his friends grows some super hot peppers to share with him.  I just finally tried the sweet and spicy pickled pepper mix I made over the summer.  To  me they are perfect; they give my sandwiches a little kick.  I sent Dad 2 jars and now I'm betting they are too mild for him.
Maybe next year I'll grow some hotter ones for him; just because they are fun to grow!
