I'll never understand it but people have a tendency to dump animals in our rural area. And, the sucker that I am, I do everything I can to find them homes.
When Momma first showed up, she would only come around late at night. All it took was one feeding and she was hooked. At the time though, because it was dark and she wouldn't exactly let me cop a feel, I thought I seen junk in the trunk and figured she was a he. The day I was going to pick up a trap so I could get "him" neutered I discovered that instead of junk in the trunk there were babies in the barn. I'm pretty sure she gave birth that particular day since there was fresh vaginal blood. So, instead of getting him neutered, I had to gain her trust so I could find her babies. It took a couple weeks and many days of 2-3 feeding/day before she let me follow her to her den. It was a couple more weeks before she brought them out far enough to see them. Of course, it was game on....I was going to get those babies. The brat sat back in the clearing while I traipsed through weeds four feet tall full of bugs and spiders. Originally, I thought there were only three but she let me know that there was another. Thankfully, the little trouble making calico has already found a home.
Since I can't afford to keep them, I have to find GOOD homes for them. I used to love PB&J sandwiches but I've had so many since taking these guys in, just so they have what they need
The babies were born on August 2 so they are 5 1/2 months old. They have all been fixed and received their rabies shots 10 days ago.
This is Momma. I know, it's a terrible name but since she answers to it, it stuck. For a stray, she is awesome!! I can hold her like a baby, rub her belly and even clip her nails! When she first showed up, she didn't know how to cat. When I gave her toys to play with she looked at me as if I was crazy. She plays with everything now. The only thing that drives me crazy is when she tries to wake me up or tries to take my glasses off so she can butt heads and what have you. I think she would do best in an adult only home. If I should find a job before finding her a home, I just might have to keep her...she is just that awesome
This beautiful boy is Grey. Again...he responds to it
Grey can be the biggest lover and the biggest pain. He plays hard, gets into everything but loves harder. When he is ready to love he invade your space and doesn't care. He will usually curl up around my head or sit on my shoulder and purr sweet nothings in my ear for hours. If I pat my chest and ask for a hug, he will gladly give you a hug! When he does get into things, I can usually just call him and he will stop, but not always. The biggest problem with him is that he poops his fur. I suspect that it's chicken and/or an enclosed litter box that causes it. He uses the box but sometimes he poops in his fur and will drag it out of the box and along the carpet. Knock on wood it hasn't happened since removing the box lid and watching what he eats. But, it could happen again which means it's bath time and carpet cleaning.
I would love to see these guys stay together
The bigger one with longer hair is Chunky. He is one big boy! He is almost if not already bigger than Momma and has ginormous paws! But he is one laid back boy! He rarely gets into trouble but also isn't as affectionate as Grey is. Although, since he came back home without his junk he is more lovable that before. He is so cute when I call him from across the room. He will stop what he is doing and come galloping like a horse complete with head toss and kicks. LOL. Chunky is just a calm and gentle soul. No known food allergies and is even a super clean eater.
The smaller one with short hair is Little Man or Skippy and he is a good boy! His favorite thing to do is to lay in my lap and snooze or play. He can get mouthy while playing though. It doesn't feel great but he has never hurt me either. In fact, I have no scars or battle wounds from any of these guys. The last litter I rescued left me bleeding on a daily basis. Unfortunately, Skippy is sick right now. I think he may have picked something up from the low cost spay/neuter clinic. I'm hoping to get him to the vet tomorrow or Tuesday. The only other thing I can think of is that he is afraid of strangers. He would need somebody to be patient with him while he gains your trust. It would make me incredibly happy if these two could stay together
I WILL NOT give them to just anybody! They need a loving indoor only home where they WILL NOT be declawed. If you can't agree to that then you are not the right home for my boys. If anybody is interested, I'll be happy to provide more info, pics or whatever.
