Lately my cat Misa makes constant hairballs almost everyday for the past few days.. Is it normal or is something I should be concern about?? Normallysh would make them at least no more than three times a month. BTW she is 8 years old

Thanks

Hmmm...That does seems a bit often to me. I'm guessing it never used to be that common?

Have you changed her food (or has the formula for her food changed) or tried new treats?

Also, is she actually coughing up the hairball or just coughing. If it keeps up more than a few days, I would be tempted to see a vet, just to be safe.

Does she vomit her food as well? Any change in appetite or litterbox use?

She doesn't throw up her food. Only if that particular food contains beef or any other red meat in it.

I do notice she tends to over cleans herself but I knew this ever since I got her.

Your cat may have a sensitivity or allergy to red meat. Try to not feed any food that has red meat for a few weeks. If there is no vomiting or attemppts to vomit up a hairball during this time, then you likely solved the problem. A trip to the vet would also be helpful

Do you feed dry food only, wet food, or a combination of both?  Sometimes feeding mainly wet food helps pass hair that they ingest while grooming.

Wet and sometimes dry. She gets dry as a snack though, but not everyday. Occasionally she gets raw chicken

How does her coat look?  Any bare or thinning spots (check her belly and inner legs if you can)?  Is it still soft or does it feel dull/dry/greasy?

She has a bald spot under her belly that never went away and her fur is very soft. She also has some thining hair b her hind legs at the bottom. It's not very shiny though.
