New to here and at my wits end. My 9 year old boy Taz threw up food Wednesday night. Only ate a little on Thursday and threw that up. Has been throwing up clear foamy liquid. Went to vet on Friday and was checked and did blood work which came back great except for white blood count somewhat high. He is drinking water and just laying around sleeping. Anti nausea med didn't work. This morning put a little food on my finger and rubbed on his mouth. He licked it and immediately threw up yellow bile which I know means his stomach is empty. I won't do that to him again. A little while ago I went to check on him and I took the tie from my robe and dangled it and he started playing with it. I was shocked wasn't expecting him to do that. I went and sat back down in the recliner and he jumped I'm my lap and was kneading and purring and is now sleeping in my lap. So I am stuck in the recliner. Vet thinks it could be pancreatitis. Taking him in first thing tomorrow for more tests. I'm so worried about him. I know not eating is not good. I haven't eaten much myself I'm so worried. Of course I can stand to lose a few pounds. Lol. He isn't throwing up anymore but is still nauseated if I show him food. He starts the lip smacking. I've gotten absolutely nothing done that I needed to do this weekend because I just sit and watch him. I'm sure some of you can relate to that. Just can't wait to get to vet tomorrow and hopefully get him on the right track to getting well. I love all four of my kitties dearly, but he has a special place in my heart.

I'm glad you're taking him back to the vet tomorrow. And can completely relate to worrying about him all weekend. Please let us know what the vet says. I hope they can get your boy to eat. [emoji]127808[/emoji]

Thank you for the kind words. I hate to even leave the house. Did go to Church last night and sermon was about giving your worries to God. I wish I knew how to do that. Almost can't wait for today to be over so we can get to the vet and I'm glad I am off work tomorrow and that won't be an issue.

How long since your cat last ate?  Are you givjng subQ fluids? What are you using for anti-nausea? f you see you see  your kitty sniffing food and walking away and lip smacking, he is nauseous and likely will not eat no matter what you do. Ondansetron/or , Cerenia if there is vomiting, might help, but if left untreated, he won't want to eat if this is pancreatitis.

The nausea med is metlclopramide solution. He threw it back up. Hasn't eaten since Thursday night and it was just a little bit. Yesterday he paid no attention to food. Tonight he came in while I was fixing it and he smelled it and acted like he wanted it, but was still nauseated. Hopefully answers tomorrow and I can get him eating and feeling better. I keep a close eye on him making sure he doesn't get dehydrated and I know not eating is not good so I'm praying we find out something tomorrow.

Well, later on tonight he went in the laundry room where I fed them and he jumped up on the washing machine which is where he eats. I tried some Rachael Ray chicken and he wanted to eT it. So then I tried some Fancy Feast fish and shrimp. He licked it and then ate maybe a teaspoon full. I was so happy. He has been in my lap all night. Still going to the vet tomorrow and get him checked out again. I can tell he feels better though.

I'm glad to hear he ate a bit, and really glad  your going to the vet tomorrow- he needs to eat!  Do you have any Fortaflora to sprinkle on his food?

Regarding the metoclopramide(Reglan) used to be favored for anti-emetic but the way I understand it, most vets nowadays use either Cerenia (for vomiting) or Ondansetron(Zofran) for nausea, as it doesn't really address the cause of the nausea in cats and can have some weird side effects for some kitties.

I hope you get some answers tomorrow!

Well, he wouldn't eat this morning, but he did seem a little more lively. He is at the vet now so I am waiting to hear back. The vet originally thought it might be a food allergy and I am hoping that is all it is. He has flea allergies so maybe it will be that. Then the trick will be finding food he will eat and feeding the other three cats. I have two 16 year old females and about a two year old male that I started feeding outside. Mine are inside cats only. The two year old Buddy I had neutered and vaccinated and found out he has HIV. I started bring him in at night and he would stay in my sons room. After a couple of months and doing some research I decided to try him around my cats and they are doing great. Still can't break him from going outside, but he spends part of the day in and all night. We are moving in April so then is when I plan on just making him stay inside. He will have access to a screened in area so I hope that will keep him happy. Will write when I hear back from the vet. Fingers crossed.

Picked Taz up from the vet about 4 pm today. X-ray showed an inflamed stomach, but no blockages and no tumors. Still thinks it maybe pancreatitis. He is on predinosolone. Got him home and he wanted to immediately eat. He ate a good amount and no throwing up. Feel so relieved. Still need to watch him, but I can tell right now he feels a lot better.
