I am the lucky mummy of a 6 month persian kitten called Dolly. She is amazing, but 4 days ago she started to show signs that she was scared, when i went to pick her up she cries out and has spite and hiss at me. I took her to vet had her checked over and vet could not find nothing wrong with her. Then i noticed that he had not used her cat tray, i watched her all night and she slep on my bed all night. But next day i took back to vet because she had not peed at all any where and i was worried she had bladder problem. On way there she had peed inher crate. This is not her at all she so clean. Her vet still could no find nothing wrong. We went home yet again with no answer. She slept on sofa last night i left her litter tray near her and food on the floor, she been eating and drinking all time so this is not the answer. When we got up she had pood on the sofa which is on the other wall. Eaten and drank, she curld up in her carry crate, wont come out and been in there all day. I just dont know whats scared her so much, me and my partner only care for her.she never been shouted at or hurt.just out of my mind worrying about her. I left her toherself left her food near her and tray and i played with her before but she still wont come out, she just sleeps all day. Please help.

Did the vet test her for a UTI?  The only way to test for a UTI is through a urine sample.  Either one that you bring or one they draw straight from the bladder.

The fact that she is not her perky self and choosing to sleep suggests to me that something is wrong with her.  She is acting as though she does not feel well.  Can you find another vet for a second opinion?  Also please be sure she is tested for  UTI or something else where blood work might be necessary.  Did you have an elevated temperature?

You know her best as you see her activity level each day.  If something is amiss and you feel in your gut something is wrong, find another vet or ask your current vet to run more tests.

I hope your sweet kitten will perk up again soon.

Hi no tbey didnt do a uti i mention she not weeing at all and sleeping alot. She said she could be in season, but she is not, i have had female cats for years and no the signs. I honestly do think its a UTI infection, which imentioned and she asked had she been sick and trying to bear down, which she has no sign off. Just wont come out ofher carry crate. And when i have picked her up she has cried out. I will take her back inmorning as i want help now she just not my Dolly at all, who follows me about and is so funny. Her eyes are dilated also. Just so upset i could cry for her. Hate to see her like this. Does anyone know if im doing right this letting her sleep and leaving her alone. I love this little cat loads she so lovely and gentle. P!ays alot and loves life. Thank you for that reply i will ask again, and no temp at all both times i took her. Thank you once again. Xx

I am having a bit of trouble following your post.  Is she not using the litter box at all, or just not on the days she's gone to the vet?

I do agree that she needs to go back to the vet as this is a major change in behavior.  I would guess that she's in pain rather than scared.

Do you plan to have her fixed soon?

I would leave her to rest.  Be sure you has access to fresh water and food if she is interested.  They need to do something for her.

Also please take the time to schedule her spay.  You do not want her to have to go through a heat cycle as well.

Please update us.  You are in my thoughts.

I have left her litter tray right near where she normally has it and she won't go in it at all. I cleaned her tray and fresh litter in same one she always has and she runs away and hides when I have taken her to it. Left her all night and this morning she ' poop on sofa. Not weed today at all. Its like she scared of her litter tray. Like it makes her in pain. Only thing that's making sense. She is a very clean cat never had any accidents. Sorry if i got jumbled up and don't make sense. Just upset I update you all tomorrow and yes she will be spade asap just don't want all this again lol. Thanks both of you have helped a lot.xx

What is the last time she used the litter box? Is she not going at all except for the accidents?

I agree that something must be wrong and she's in pain. It might help to write out symptoms day by day so you can paint a full picture for the vet.

That's right talkpeanut only accidents when she alone. Like yesterday on way to emergency vet she peed in her box before we got there and late last night. Vet said she could not find anything wrong, feel so let down and costing a lot also. Going back tomorrow and I want test doing. Cost £55 just to be told she had weed lol. Very expensive wee x

I would go to another vet! They don't seem to be listening to your concerns. You could also see if this one will see you for a follow up without charging.

But yes, write out symptoms and behavior that you noticed for each day so they can see the full story.

If her eyes are dilated and she cries when you pick her up, she's definitely in pain. Avoiding the litter pan would indicate that it is painful to urinate or defecate. (In kitty logic, the pan is causing the pain.) Make sure you have her tested for a urinary tract infection.

Hi just update on Dolly, went to another vet as advised and they took a water test. They had to drain her wee off her to get it tho, came back with blood in so water infection like you said. She was given anti-inflammatory tabs to calm kidneys and was told to try Feliway diffuer because of her stressing. So all plugged in and she is snoring. Just hope this all works. Thank you for your help to been great.

It's great that you were able to advocate for her and get her help! Did she get antibiotics too?

When she's feeling better you should make an appointment to get her spayed. She's approaching the age where she'll go into heat which will be unpleasant for both of you. She will also be at risk for pyometria, a uterine infection.

I hope she was given antibiotics and not just an anti inflammatory.  She needs antibiotics to knock out the infection.
