Can i give my cat Valerian root?

I have a 17 year old cat shes in her last stages her kidneys are failing shes does good at times but im wanting to know if i can give her valerian root she weighs 4lbs the Vet cant do anything for her just wondered.

According to everything I have read, yes you can.  Here is just one article that includes it, and may be helpful to you.  If you live in a state that allows the use of medical marijuana, such as Colorado or Oregon, you can use that also for pain relief and relief of nausea.

It is said to be more of a stimulant than a calming agent, but catnip is both, first stimulant, THEN calming agent.

This thread says its a stimulant is sniffed but a calming agent if ingested, like using valerian tea.  Here is some info:
