I cant find any thread describing my problem with my 5 year old baby, so I figured I should start a new, if it is one from earlier im sorry.

So the problem is that I was away because of work in november/december, my dad was home, and when I got home she had lost a lot of weight and was so skinny! She even acted strange, I couldnt touch her with out her permission and it was like if She was scared. She used to sleep with me in my bed, but not anymore. Shes also started to poop on the carpet instead of in the litterbox!

I took her to the vet to figure out what the problem might be, the vet said that theres a bisound on her heart because of high metabolism , which is normal, exept that She is a little bit young to have that and its possible that this is why Shes been losing alot of weight. He also said that She walking around like cats normally do.

So I got some new food to give her because she wasnt eating either, and she got so exited for the food and ate like never before, but now Shes back to not eating much again. Im gonna take her to the vet again, I just need money first. I just dont know what to do, and its so frustrating since I cant figure out what the problem is, and since the vet said she was acting normally! Do any of you know anything that may work or what her problem is and so on? I am kind of losing my mind here :-(

Sorry for bad english! And a messy thread.. please help me!

I have never heard of the condition you are referring to so cannot give any advice on that.  Sorry.  I am glad you have had her to the vet, and since the vet said he thinks she is fine, then I offer the following comments.

Some people say cats have very bad memories like if they have kittens and go to move them they  may forget if they have four or five and leave one behind... i'm not sure that's true, but if you have been away, then your kitties life dynamics have changed, and I think it is normal that there will be an adjustment period upon your return.  A lot depends on how long you had the cat and how strong the bond was before you went away.

As for food, I think many cat owners will agree that its always good to have a back up brand for when your cat decides not to eat their favorite food anymore, or in case the supplier quits making it or changing the recipe.  What have you been feeding?  Do you have regular meal times, or just food on demand?  Do you treat? My cats weight fluctuates... sometimes they just aren't as hungry, sometimes they are starving.  If your kitty was depressed with you being away, she may not have eaten as much.  You don't want your cat to be too skinny, but I used to have a super skinny cat and I was always worried about her, but my vet would tell me that if she was a human girl, we would be envious of her svelte body... fat fluffy kitties look cute, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are at their optimum health either.

So, waiting to hear what you have been feeding and I sure many people can offer advice on how to feed differently.  wishing you and your cat best of luck getting everything back to normal!

Sorry, forgot to address the pooping issue.  Is she still doing that.  Does she poop beside the litter box and not in it, or just anywhere thats convenient?  Have you changed litter?  Is the cat declawed?

I took her to the vet again today since she got alot worse last night... Sadly had to take her life this morning because of acute kidney failure... So I guess that was her problem all along, she had a prescribtion diet from the vets Office. I dont know what its called in the us, but here its called I/D if im not mistaken. Thank you so much for answer anyway

My condolences. I'm sorry your cat passed away. :rbheart:
At least you got an answer for her condition so you won't always be wondering. It is a shame the vet didn't pick up the reason sooner though.
