Meanwhile if you can syringe him water, or water + baby food warmed up, that will be good. At least he will not be starving himself and dehydrating too badly, which only makes things worse all around.

Will be thinking of you two.

Thank you=was going to say that=keep him hydrated--use a medicine dropper-he may like this or dip your finger in water/food and have him lick it off. babyfood meat has a good amount of water-he may eat a whole bottle in one sitting-I know you don't want to leave him alone but get some babyfood as its got the right texture that is easy to eat. Poor Oscar. Sending hugs

I called the vet again and managed to talk to her a bit about Oscar's vomiting and refusal to eat.

She, too, said that putting him to sleep may be for the best at this point.

Sorry. Not easy, I know. Ugh, wish there was something I could say to make it better......

Oh no...I'm so sorry!  I wish there were something I could do.

He's eaten a thing and a half of wet food, thank goodness. He seems to be keeping it down. His appetite seems to have diminished, though.

I've been wondering too.

Thank you so much what you've done for this cat.  The earlier part of his life may have been awful, but you're making the end a much gentler, kinder one that many cats get.

I'm thinking about you, Oscar.

It's been scheduled. I'll be right there next to him as he takes his last breath on Friday, 1/29/2016.

We'll be having a private cremation for him.

He's getting spoiled rotten till then. He will feel all the love I have for him till he can no longer.

I thank everyone who has helped me. I thank you all for the well-wishes and sympathy.

He tried to steal the meat of my sandwich earlier today, so I bought him some deli meat for him to eat. He loves it.

As always, he is currently at my feet. Sleeping and dreaming of things kitties do.

I watch him a little closer now; watching him breathe slowly as he sleeps. I get so scared that he'll be robbed from me before I'm ready.

Then again, I don't think I'll ever be ready. My time with him was all too short, though I am grateful to have had any time at all.

It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all, as people say.
