Hi,

I have two 14 week old kittens. I would like to have them on a higher quality wet food, but I have been running into some issues with their GI systems.

Currently, I am feeding them Oirjen Cat & Kitten dry food, and was rotating different wet foods that I bought at Chuck and Dons.  One in particular (Sydney) was having problems with diarrhea, so I switched them both (Sami and Sydney) to Nature's Variety wet food.  Their poop smelled like rotten eggs, they had bad gas and they both had diarrhea. I bought some digestive enzymes and have been giving them probiotics mixed in some Nutro Wet food. Now I know. Nutro is "OK" but I'd like to have them on something a little better if I could.

I have tried weruva and tiki cat, but they only drink the juice and leave the shreds. So I am looking in the pate/flaked type foods. The one I am thinking about is Holistic Select. Any thoughts or other suggestions?

I am trying to stay way from wet food with eggs in it as I am guessing that is the ingredient in NV that caused the rotten smell and sour stomachs.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I use Holistic Select as a regular part of my rotation. It's one that my cat is more fussy about, but he will eat it. I like that it's one of the cheaper brands so it helps with my budget. Plus I buy the kibble too.

Thanks! I am finding that a lot of wet food has eggs in it. I don't know if I try another one and see if it is the eggs or if it was just Nature's Variety that didn't agree with them in general. I figured i would start with Holistic Select first (?) and go from there.  Would love some recommendations. Am interested in Go! and Precise Holistic but they both have egg in them.

I did try Fromm Wet food a couple of weeks ago,but the Tuna & Salmon flavor was too hard on their tummies.

My life would be a lot easier if Orijen would just come out with some wet cat food!

I have also considered trying to do some Primal Freeze Dried Raw with water on it as their wet food treat, and see if their tummies could tolerate it. The pros would be no eggs.

P.S. I have been trying to stick to poultry chicken/turkey type flavors since their tummies have been so sensitive.  Will introduce other proteins once we get through this :)

P.P.S. Maybe it isn't the eggs, as I just checked the Orijen Cat food and it has eggs in it.

Something in Nature's Variety chicken pate & Pride Chicken definitely didn't agree with them though. Poo really smelled! Gas too!

Pure Vita turkey stew has been great for my kitten. It doesn't have eggs which I avoid because it makes the house smell rancid. My kitten also has intolerance and allergy issues with food. But so far this food has solved her scratchingng, shedding, and flatulence problems. Intially the veggies in it made me concerned she wouldn't tolerate the food, but she's doing fine.
