Hi all, We're bringing home our new kitten in 2 days and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips on transitioning his food. I've picked up a bag of the food he is eating now but it is a low quality grocery store food (Purina Kitten Chow) and I'd like to switch him onto a higher quality food (something like Wellness or Now!) Any suggestions on that front would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

Just make sure to switch him slowly. Mix the two together and every day or two, give him a little more of the new food and a little less of the old. :) I think a lot of people measure it out, but I didn't when I switched Jasper's food.

I've switched an adult cat's food before but never a kitten's. Is there much of a difference?

I don't believe so. :) I switched Ruby and Jasper at about the same time (Ruby is almost 3, Jasper was probably around six months) and I did the same thing for both of them.

Wet food is good for the kitten as well.  Most people feed both leaving dry out so the kitten can eat whenever it is hungry and give wet food 3 or 4 times a day depending on the age of the kitten.
