My cat has been suffering with an eye infections that keeps coming back.  It started in October 2015 with redness, cloudiness and slight discharge.  My vet has given him 3 rounds of orbax and 2 types of ointment.  One of the ointments is lubrifresh and the other is an antibiotic ointment.  Each time his eye has gotten better but within a week of finishing the orbax, his eye is red, cloudy with drainage.  I have continued with the ointments throughout.  It is now January 2016 and my poor baby is starting to run from me!!  The vet has tested his eye with some sort of green dye and showed me a place on his cornea that he says is a scratch that clears up after the orbax but then immediately comes back.  I am thinking of trying a new vet at this point.!  Please, if any one has advice, I really need it!  Plus I am well over $500 at this point!

Has he been tested for feline herpes virus? This is often the cause of a recurring eye infection.[article="32495"][/article]

With the eye drops - find an extra yummy treat that your boy goes crazy for. Keep it specifically for after eye drops, and have it on hand when you administer them. As soon as you're done, give a treat. This should build up a positive association and help him realise that eye drops aren't all that bad.

I asked the vet if it could be herpes and he said it would be in both eyes and that my other cat would have it. Thankyou and I am going to ask him to test for herpes.

Your other cat would NOT necessarily have it if it was herpes.  I have a herpes cat and 3 other cats.  The herpes has not spread to the others.

I would ask the vet to send off a sample of the discharge from his eyes to the lab for a culture and sensitivity test.  It might show what you're dealing with (bacterial or viral)  and which med will treat it best.
