Hi
I am brand new to site. I have a 7 year old tabby boy who has lost 2 lbs over past 2 months. He is eating drinking voiding playing ect as usual. I brought him to the vet normal exam and lab results all good stool smear mormal. He seems fine and since he is still over 12 lbs (he is a big boy!) he is at healthy weight so vet is not concerned. However, why the weight loss?? Has anyone had a similar experience with a kitty? We recently moved but he seemed to adjust ok to new house.

Have you changed his diet at all recently? Has he been more active lately?

The questions I had were already asked :) It's possible he's just getting a bit more exercise too if he's been busy exploring the new place. Although I'm not sure it would be so much as to lose two pounds in two months.

No change in diet he doesnt seem more active then usual. The vet checked thyroid kidney sugar liver function and a complete blood count all normal. He says to weigh him weekly and call if he continues to lose so i guess i'll have to just wait and see

Someone posted a similar question: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/312463/cat-mysteriously-losing-weight

There are specific tests for thyroid and diabetes Ask thh vet if those tests were done.

Did the vet check your cat's teeth? Dental issues can cause a cat to not eat well and therefore lose weight. Many "regular" vets don't know how to do an oral exam (it's not really taught in vet school) so seek out a veterinary dentist. You can use this directory: http://www.avdc-dms.org/dms/list/diplomates-map.cfm
