There are fewer and fewer occasions where the 14 1/2 year old stepson is around her. He's still present but I find a way of intervening whenever I sense she's about to wander too close to him. I know I shouldn't have to worry about someone in the house causing her harm but only 4 more years of dealing with him. ( sorry to be blunt but his Mother is a bar ***** so he never learned manners either.) I try to be nice and compassionate to him. My fiancé is kind to Nala Ava Marie except when she tries to bite him. Then he pushes her away or at worst, he flicks her nose. [emoji]128575[/emoji] Fortunately, that's only happened very few times, she doesn't seem to fear him yet she will not bite him. I'm going to call back for one more update before they close for the day! Do you guys think the overnight video surveillance is adequate supervision for kittens and cats that have had surgeries? I was concerned about that before & everything was fine. They've said that if they see anything indicative of a problem they will go to the clinic and assist the cats. They have shifts viewing the cameras all through the night.
It's been weird going to the bathroom by myself! [emoji]128568[/emoji] Usually she's right there!

Could medication help her be less anxious? Should I give the composure chews another shot?

That would be a conversation that I think would be best to have with her vet. I'd look towards meds as a last resort. Have you tried Feliway spray or plug in diffusers? They also make calming collars. When you pick her up tomorrow, ask the vet what he/she thinks but I personally wouldn't go the meds route unless there were NO other options especially since she is so young.

Everyone who comes into contact with her needs to be on the same page with teaching her manners and if your fiance flicks her in the nose again, I'd do the same to him and ask how HE likes it. Nala needs to be taught that hands and fingers are not toys and since her mama wasn't able to teach her that, it's up to all of you. You're all part of the family and so is Nala Ava Marie no different than if she were a human baby.

My kitten girl gets to come home today at noon! [emoji]128571[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji] it was difficult to sleep without her climbing all over me! I'm going to be so scared and afraid of hurting her. [emoji]128575[/emoji] I'll let everyone know how she is after I pick her up. Definitely getting the pain meds for her. I asked last night if there'll be stitches she'll have to have removed and the tech said they used dissolvable "glue" sutures? That does not sound very strong.....what if they don't hold up? There I am worrying again. I will just have to try to keep her calm, she's not supposed to jump or run around like crazy. I'll be happy when she's all healed. That's good news. I'm sure she's fine. Both of my girls had the dissolvable stitches after they were spayed and they held great and healed perfectly. Those stitches are stronger that you'd think. Just keep an eye on her. She might be a little lethargic for a bit while she recovers. The spaying might calm her down a tad but she's a growing baby. She should heal pretty quickly.

When you pick her up, talk to the vet about your concerns regarding her anxiety. I think that a calming collar can help (Amazon sells them as do big box pet stores). Hands off play time will help too. A wand toy like Da Bird is a big hit with a lot of cats. This will help teach her that hands and fingers are not toys and it will help her burn off a lot of that kitten energy. Laser pointers are good for this too. Most cats love to chase the little red dot.

Feliway diffusers and/or sprays can be a big help as well.

It's perfectly normal to worry. We all do. They are our babies and we love them.

Amazon also sells wand toys and Feliway products. They have the best prices I've found on Feliway

She's home! She's acting as if nothing happened! I'm trying to get her to slow down! Her little tummy looks so weird, they shaved her belly a little and she has about an 1" pink incision. I can give her pain medication later this evening. She's been licking her paws a lot.....idk why? They took her collar off, which is understandable but I'm going to have fun trying to put it back on her. I missed her so much.

How is the beautiful Miss Nala Ava Marie?

EDIT:  I must have hit "Send" right after you posted!    So glad she's home safe and sound.

I'm going to check on Amazon for the Feliway and some toys for her! She has tons of toys but after this she deserves a new toy! [emoji]128571[/emoji][emoji]128568[/emoji][emoji]128570[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]10084[/emoji]️

I just hurt Nala Ava Marie accidentally!!! [emoji]128575[/emoji] I feel awful! OMG! She was up on the table, I did not want her jumping down from that high! So I attempted to gently lift her down so she wouldn't leap. She let out the most heart wrenching cry, yowl, yelp, growl. I felt horrible. My poor baby! She can't have her pain meds until after 7:00 PM. [emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128546[/emoji][emoji]128153[/emoji][emoji]128549[/emoji]

Don't be too hard on yourself!  Of course that's easier said than done but you were actually helping her.  Think how much she might have hurt if she'd actually made that jump!

That's true. The vet tech told me not to let her jump. Poor little girl, I can tell she's trying to mask her pain but I know my baby and I know she's hurting. We had company, my fiancé's daughter and her boyfriend and Nala usually makes herself very scarce when people come over even when she's feeling well. She actually made a few appearances! No hissing or growling and even allowed them to pet her! I just want her to feel better. I'm going to give her pain meds to her early.

She actually fell asleep so she got her pain meds a little later than she could've had them. It's this yucky looking olive green color...it's chicken liver flavor but she loves it! Lol. I measure it out in the syringe then put it on a spoon and she eagerly laps it up!

Thank you! She's been active, active, active! She's been playing like herself! She's kind of skittish still, she gets spooked so easily. She was like that before surgery though. [emoji]128570[/emoji] I was reading something that claimed maybe pain meds aren't always good bc it can relieve their discomfort too much and then they're careless when they play and play too hard? I think that's why they kept her overnight though so she'd have some good quality rest. It was so nice to have my beautiful, luxurious purring scarf in my face last night again! She's a cutie, that's for sure! [emoji]128150[/emoji]. Is she fully recovered from The Operation?
