Hello all!

I have 4 semiferal teenaged cats that I've been socializing and fostering for the past 1/2 year. (Spayed/neutered, given shots and etc) Recently, an adult semiferal? stray? has been coming around, breaking into their cat house and cuddling them while they are asleep, sitting around to watch while they eat, and sitting around to watch while they play. It doesn't seem like an outdoor cat, because it has an healthy amount of fear for people, but is much much bolder than my kittens/their mama when they were fully feral.

Did I gain another member of the colony? Should I prepare trapping materials / a neuter or spay appointment right away? I'm a little... uneasy about this overly friendly stranger, because it's new, I don't know how it would affect the cats (if at all), and if it could signify more ferals coming to the yard. I'm also in a feral-cat-unfriendly household, so I'm not sure what to do if more members of the colony begin coming. The cats have set feeding times and food isn't left out, but I also hesitate to turn away this new stranger who may need shots, shelter, and food.

(For anyone who may have read my previous thread, happily I haven't relocated yet -- that will now be in June! I have more time to look for potential adopters, and more time to socialize (and cherish with) the no-longer-kittens! Tips on how to better proceed with socialization + adoption also welcome :)

I would definitely not turn this new one away.  If you cannot afford to help, then you could still trap the cat and take it to a shelter (no kill).  Yet, if you are able, then definitely trap the cat and get it to the vet.  You never know, but it could be microchipped.  Yet you will want a vet visit for spay/neuter and vaccines.

It does not appear that this cat has threatened the relationship with your other cats at all.  He just seems hungry and needs a place to stay warm.

Thank you for caring about him and trying to do the best.
