Salutations my fellow Catnoisseurs

What is the story behind your middle name?

Like where is it derived from/whom named after/why was it chosen etc

And totally up to you if you want to say the name or keep it private.

I actually have two middle names - one is the first name of my maternal grandmother (in honour of her) and the other is a Finnish name created and given by my parents. The first one means "Graceful Lilly" and the second one means "Morning Dew Pearl".

My parents didn't give us middle names, but being raised Catholic, we chose our own when we were confirmed. It was on my driver's license, high school and university IDs, as well as on my social security card, but I dropped it when I got married and changed my last name. The funny thing is, I lost my social security card a few years ago, and when they issued me a new one, they revived my old middle name (after over 30 years!).

None really.  Jewish people used to try and name  you after relatives that had passed on (hence why we have Hebrew names also, usually).  My middle name begins with an "A" (Ann) and I was partially named after my dad's brother Alex.

Jewish tradition is that while you should name a baby after someone who has died you should not name a baby after someone still living - it is the same as wishing them dead.

So my middle name is after my father's deceased sister which is te same name as my mother's still living sister. Lots of explanations when I was very young.

I dont have one.  My parents said my first name was long enough. They were right.

When I was a kid I loved to pull "Bet you can't guess my middle name!" bets on my friends.

I was not given a middle name, as my first name is Marianne, kind of two names in one!  I never missed it because my last name has a lot of letters, too!

My middle name is Lili. I was named after my aunt (I actually can't remember her real name now, was a Lithuanian name, but she went by Lili) who passed a couple years before I was born. It was a toss-up between that and Galena (which meant Helen in English), another aunt who has passed recently. I think they went with Lili because she was younger when she died, and it meant the world to my uncle.

I don't use my middle name, ever. That's why it makes me made that work put my middle initial in my email. I mean, why? I'm the only one with my first name in the whole company (it's a huge company). And I'm probably the only one with my first/last name combination in existence (I've looked). My last name is way more unique apparently than my first, not sure how much I like that, lol. I can so far say I'm related to every single person with my last name that exists that I'm aware of.

My middle name is after an aunt of my mom's.  Or maybe a cousin.  Geez, now I don't remember.
Guess I should ask my mom.

My middle name is the family name of ancestors from Ireland. I actually inherited a set of sterling silver from my great aunt because she was pleased to see the name in use.

My middle name is Sue (Pamela Sue). But I kept my maiden name after I got married. So my name is actually Pamela T. *********. Most people think the T is my middle name, but it's not....it's my maiden name. My sister did the same thing.

I don't know why my parents decided on Sue for me. Although it's better than what Mom wanted to call me. She had this bright idea to call me Janet LeJeune (because I was born at Camp LeJeune in North Carolina). Egads, I've always said it sounds like the name of a stripper or exotic dancer! Oy. I'll take Pamela Sue.

My parents didn't give me a middle name, which was a constant problem when growing up. If I left the part blank on an application, it was returned for completion. If I wrote in "None," it would come back with N. as my middle initial. When I was married, I finally got a middle name - my maiden name. And when I was divorced, I kept my married name mainly so I'd have a middle name. I didn't like my maiden name anyway; it caused a lot of teasing in elementary school.

Depending on what document you look at depends on if I have a middle name or not. My mother named me Lou Ann and that is on my social security card. But my birth certificate has it Louann.

My name is a combination of two of my aunts names. My moms sister-in-law Louellen and my dads sister Joann.

My middle name means favor, grace.

At an old job I had, there was a co worker who didn't have a middle name. The company insisted that your name tag on your cubicle have first name, middle initial, last name. Since he didn't have a middle name, they put an X on his name tag where the middle initial should go. I asked him what it stood for one day and that's when he told me what they did.

I didn't want to name my kids after anyone.  I have a large family and wasn't planning on having that many kids. LOL

My oldest's middle name is Rivers because my husband and I liked to whitewater kayak

DD's middle name is Jayne after my friend in high school and it (maybe) appeased my MIL who wanted us to use Anderson or Jay for middle names.

My youngest's middle name is Ocoee the river my DH and I met at.
