I did a LOT of my toy shopping from Amazon!  Walmart took care of the rest; but I had to wait longer for shipping.
I sent things direct to a few people too.

I hope you love it!

 You are such a hoot!

We've been thinking of going with Prime here, too. I wasn't sure if we used it enough to make it worthwhile, but Rick seems to think we do. I know we do during the Christmas holidays!
i have prime membership, have for a few years now. there are other benefits to having prime -- there's amazon first, where you get to choose (usually just one, out of a selection of usually 4 or more) new ebooks each month...free. then there's streaming with amazon instant video -- some shows cost either per episode or per season, but many are no charge/included in your prime membership. and too, if you're not in a hurry for your ordered 'stuff' from amazon, many/most times you can choose 'free no rush shipping' instead of the free 2-day that you can get with many items (with your prime)...and that earns you $1 ebook or other 'digital' stuff credits each time. there's a length of time you get before those $1 e-credits expire, but i've never lost any i've earned. i always save mine up, then 'buy' a kindle book with them.

No I don't have it but I love the Amazon Prime commercial with the little horse that the big horses run away from.  She then clicks on Amazon Prime and the next thing you see is a doggie door in which the little horse comes thru, it is so cute.  Anybody seen it yet?
You mean this ad?

Had it for a couple of years and I do like it a lot. I also use the storage for photographs, videos and music so I feel I get my money's worth. Sometimes a item I want will be cheaper on Ebay, and if it's a lot cheaper I will buy it on Ebay instead. But, overall I would recommend Prime if you shop a lot online. GWT

Before end of day, I will have used it three times

Although I don't think I'll use the 2-day shipping for the last one. I'll use the no-rush so I can get a $1 credit on music that I never use. I probably should use what I have soon!

Thanks, Tricia! I normally place an Amazon order (maybe) once a month. Never really thought about doing it for staples: toothpaste, deodorant, etc. I'm thinking about it more for the streaming than the delivery. For the most part, other than during the holidays, I can wait a week for something to get here. But I like the idea of streaming. The author mentioned Justified, which was actually a favorite show for me, even though I seemed to fall asleep during the show more often than not. And then I simply lost interest because I could never keep up with it.

I love the idea of Amazon First.

I've gotten E-credits, usually for music. Never seem to run out of ways to use them!

I guess I just don't understand....... 99.00 for free shipping that I get get for nothing? Two days instead of five? I guess I think the 99.00 will buy a lot of 'stuff'', so I'll save the 99.00 and wait three more days I don't 'stream' or anything like that, I'm barely computer literate, I buy E-books, but most of those are free and get sent free to my Kindle. So would someone enlighten me, I guess I'm missing something?

You really should look into the subscribe and save. I love it. I have about 25 items in my S&S and once a month, I go into my list and keep anything I need and skip anything I don't. I never have fewer than 5 items so I always get the 15% discount on every item. I get paper towels, toilet paper, conditioner, body wash, cat food, Pure Bites (this one NEVER gets skipped), vitamins and more. I price compare the items to Wal Mart's prices and with the discount, it's usually less. One less thing I have to go there for. Since I'm a Prime member, I make sure everything on my S&S is Prime eligible and I get it in 2 days. This month's order was delivered on Sunday. Non Prime members get free shipping on S&S but it's standard shipping (3-5 days). $99 a year works out to $8.25 a month- basically the same amount as a Netflix subscription.

It's a lot more than just free 2 day shipping. Watching a TV show or movie online is as easy as doing a search and clicking a button. Anyone can do it and there is a lot of shows and movies available. They have a free 30 day trial for someone who doesn't know if it would be right for them. Give it a shot. If you don't like it, cancel it.

You don't have to have a minimum order to get free shipping with Prime. So if you're like "oh, I need to get a new charger for my phone", if you have to make a minimum order you might put it off or buy something you don't need. But with Prime you can just order it right away. More things have free shipping, too. And there's music and tv shows/movies you can get. Not everyone will get any use out of Prime but it's really great for some people.

I do that too. Another benefit is that you can have the item shipped to another address. My DD left her phone charger home when she went back to school after Thanksgiving break. I could have gotten hers, packed it up, taken it to the Post Office and sent it. The problem with that is I never get home before they close. She texted me that night, I went on Amazon and ordered her a new one to be delivered to her at school. She was without a charger for 1 day and it cost me the same amount to buy it and have it shipped as if I had just  mailed hers. It's not a Samsung brand charger but it sure works like one. Now she has a backup charger.

I have it, thought about cancelling when the price went up but I didn't.  I don't know if it's really worth it for me but whenever I shop I always look for the stuff that has prime shipping and I have to want it really bad no other options to buy something that doesn't ship under prime.  They also have free downloads of books once a month I think. I've tried looking for movies to watch, but most of them aren't all that interesting to me.

I received my first Prime order yesterday. I did really like the convenience of being able to order things that I needed for this weekend and would have had to go searching around in all kinds of stores for.

Amazon is reducing the cost to $73 this weekend. It starts at 9 pm Friday night. I'm going for it then. Not until 9 pm Friday night. That's a $26 savings.
