My cat always licks her self all the time. Her skin is all rough and bumpy. She digs into her fur, and I guess that's how she hurts her skin. She does it all the time. Any answers to stop this. P.S.she has already gone to the vet

What did the vet say? What did they suggest?

The first thing I start with is diet... What is your kitty eating?

The vet said it was probably allergies. The vet suggested to brush her so that she wouldn't puke hairballs as much. She eats dry cat food. And I give her meat sometimes.

You might want to add more canned food to her diet and reduce the kibble. Some cats don't get enough water, otherwise. This would also give you a chance to check for food allergies by keeping a food diary and keeping track of how she does.

Did your vet suggest what kind of allergies might be involved?

All the vet recommended was brushing her? Did they give her anything for itching relief?

The easiest thing is to eliminate things like corn and corn meal from her diet to see if that helps. Check the ingredient list on her food.

They gave her a shot.  The vet also gave her Cat Lax.

What brand of food are you feeding her?  Also, what kind of litter do you use?  It could be a food or litter issue.  Was she checked for fleas?

I started feeding her Purina Cat Chow, gentle.  She uses Special Kitty litter, or the woods.  She doesn't have fleas.  She also got an allergy shot.
