Haha yea all of my other cats sit in front of my computer but Brigitte usually keeps to herself and now she is doing the exact opposite. She isn't in heat i am sure of that, but the thing is she is "acting" like she is in heat (ik she isn't). I have other cats that haven't been fixed until recently so i know how a cat acts when they are in heat and that was how she was acting. She isn't but she was behaving like she was and I didn't know she wasn't spayed till about a little over a week ago when i noticed she was pregnant. Since I thought she was fixed I didn't think anything of pregnancy when she happened to sneak out the door (we have a screen door that is easily pushed open because it doesn't close properly and my husband accidentally left the big door behind it open). I'm getting her spayed once she recovers from this litter and once the kittens are weaned. She went missing for about a good couple of months and i figured someone had picked her up once i couldn't find her and she didn't come back after a while and then she showed up with a little bit of a belly and i checked her and sure enough i could feel little babies moving around in her tummy! I hope they are here soon but since I'm not sure how many days/weeks along she is i hope they don't come early. I know that even just a few days early is really dangerous for a kitten to be born. Hope they come soon and healthy and meowing loudly!

You're doing a great job taking care of her. She sounds very pregnant and like they'll come when she's ready. You just have to keep an eye on her and get her to a vet if she's in any distress. Keep asking questions!

Yea already have her vet on call and he is literally right down the road. She isn't acting any "weirder" today lol. No more than the usual she has been acting lately. The only thing is she is still licking her girly bits nonstop :lol3:

Can you still see the kittens moving? It's good you have the vet on call.

The prancing/dancing and trying to get out sounds more like a frantic kitty than one in heat. A female in heat crawls on her belly, thrusting her rear end in the air with her tail crooked to the side. She makes a deep-throated cry like "raow." She doesn't make that sound at other times. Have you told the vet about this behavior?

Yea they are still moving, not quite as much as they were before but they still are somewhat. And frantic kitty? and she has been laying on her belly with her but in the air. She did it yesterday but not today that i have noticed. She isn't doing any deep throat meowing like a cat in heat does but she is meowing pretty much all the time and pretty loud. I also noticed that her pupils have been fully dilated (all the way to the rim) and i read somewhere that dilates pupils mean pain in cats. So idk but no kitties just yet. They should be here by this weekend either way!

This really worries me. I think she's in distress. Could be a kitten is blocking the birth canal. And the licking could be the result of leaking amniotic fluid - a broken sac. I really urge you to get in touch with your vet. And if the kittens aren't moving as much as before, they could be in distress too.

If she has dropped, you won't see the kittens moving very much because they have moved into the birth canal.  The licking is normal.  You can call the vet if you are concerned.  Does she seem in distress?

No she doesn't seem to be in distress at all actually and i took her to her vet earlier today and they did another checkup on her and the babies. He did an xray on her and another ultrasound. all of the babies are just fine and he said she may be having false labor. I told him everything that has been going on with her and the false labor seems to be what the problem is/was. A good thing is that i know her water hasnt broken or anything bc i am constantly checking to see if her area is wet and it never is really wet. It is only damp at times when she has been licking and she has been relatively calm all day today. Sleeping, eating, drinking water a lot still. She aslo hasnt been as vocal lately so it seems like she is almost back to normal. The only things she is doing now is she is still breathing fast every so often but not like alarmingly fast and she is being really lazy now for some reason. The kittens aren't moving a ton because they have dropped. The vet said looking at how low they are that they should be here within a couple of days, give or take a few. She looks a lot skinnier than she did the other day so i am pretty sure them "dropping" is the reason why. He said her health and the kittens look really good and to expect some babies soon enough :)

Okay so i have a question. I know pregnant cats are supposed to look skinnier when their bellies have "dropped" but im a little concerned. Brigittes belly looks sooo skinny now and i could barely feel the kittens move. I had to hold her still for a good 5 minutes with my hand on her belly before i felt anything move. They are for sure still in there because i can still feel them moving around a little bit but should she really look that skinny? And is less movement normal when the kittens are almost in the birth canal? Just wondering. I mean when i first saw her this morning i thought she maybe had went somewhere else in the house and had them while i was asleep but i know she didnt since i can still feel them moving a bit. But she looks so small on he sides that i couldnt even tell she was pregnant. Is it normal for her to look kinda skinny. I was actually typing this yesterday and my computer **** off haha. She looks a bit bigger today but i can barely feel any movement and she seems so be acting really normal except the fact that she has been very clingy for the past day or so. Any idea what is going on anyone??? Cause I'm totally lost

Ye, yoou dont feel them move as much when she has dropped.  I think Handsome Kitten mentioned it.  Rub her belly if shw ewants and allows - they usually do. It helps her homones coming in.

Good luck!

Okay thanks i was kind of worried but i dont have the money to take her to the vet for a 3rd time. Ive saved up enough just in case she should need a csection but other than that i dont have enough for an extra appointment. Im not rich lol and i pulled money out of my savings for my new house for her last x-ray and ultrasound so im almost broke haha

Okay, i know it is late but guys.... i have looked and looked everywhere on the internet for an answer to this and i have came up with absolutely nothing. So again, i need you all to help me out here. Brigitte lost her mucus plug im pretty sure. I went to check her for her waters and her plug a few mins ago and i saw something like white-ish colored but with a tad bit on pink and before i could really look and make sure it was her plug she swatted at me and licked it away :/ But my question is how can i tell when her vulva is dilating? and does the outside of her "area" actually dilate to where i could tell if any dilation is happening or does just her cervix dilate? im a tad confused on this lol.... so is there any ways to tell if she is dilating? I also noticed that her vulva looked a bit more pink today than normal and it looked a tad bit swollen....is that something having to do with labor coming soon? or should i be concerned? As soon as anyone with some info reads this please get back to me. Just wanting to ensure that all of this stuff happening to my baby girl are normal and not alarming things. Oh and thanks to all of you that have helped me out with my slight clueless moments hahaha

Oh that is what I am going through right now too. I too am looking for the dialation. Same description as you are describing. I called the emergency vet to ask about the mucus and that is normal. They told me that is how labor starts.

Hey My new Friend,

It sounds like labor may be in progress.

Can you feel her tummy? Does it feel "Hard".

Do you have a stethoscope? You can hear changes as the contactions start.  The bowel sounds get louder as everything starts moving in the right direction.

Yes. It sounds like a Mucus plug.  Is she always sooo irritable and swatting at you?

I am heading for a vet book and will be right back!

Cindy

P.S. I won't leave you alone until she has them or someone else comes in on this.

Haha im happy to see that im not the only cat momma sitting up at 6am waiting for kittens! And i thought it was normal but i have never seen a cats mucus plug so i wasnt sure. Thank you! The waiting game sucks huh? Im not quite sur how to check the dilation. Does the opening just look more...open? Like the hole its self? I've read up on almost everything else but this is something i cant find answers for on google lol.

She usually inst this aggressive. She is actually a kind of lovable cat but she has been having mood swings. One minute she wants as much attention as she can get and then the next she is hissing and growling. I don't think she likes to be touched from the neck down is all haha. Thank you for being here to help me by the way. It means a lot to me! and i cant see her contractions and i don't have a stethoscope but she wont let me touch her tummy long enough to feel for them. And i'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but she has been having trouble controlling her bladder here lately and she has had gas for a couple of days now and she has never had gas lol. Sorry if tmi but i need to know!
