Hi, my name is Sharon and i am new to this site. I have a 17 month old cat called Koba. He is a beautiful placid cat. Unfortunately on Tuesday he came home with a really bad injury to one of his back legs. We took him to the vets straight away, they kept him in and gave him pain relief. The next day the vet called me and told me my options, he could try and save the leg but my cat would have a gaping hole in his leg and it would take months of treatment to sort him out properly or he could amputate it which he said was the better option for the cat. So me and my son opted to have the leg amputated which was done on Wednesday. We brought him home on Thursday but he hasnt done much since we got him home, he eats a little and drinks a little water. He uses the litter tray but he has only urinated since being back. WE noticed today that his pink nose has gone white and his gums are quite pale. He does have a check up at the vets on Thursday but is it safe to wait until then. I am quite worried about him. I know its going to take time to get over the trauma he has been through but surely he should be a little more active now. Any suggestions as to what i should do? Should i call the vet and ask advice or should i wait for his appointment on Thursday?

Your kitty needs to be seen by a vet today.  If you can't get him in to his regular vet than an emergency vet.  Pale gums is a sign of anemia.

I agree he needs to be seen by a vet. Pale gums and nose is not good. Good luck!

Thank you, I will do that. I just thought he was a bit lethargic because of the trauma he has been though. I am glad to say he has done a poo a few minutes ago so thats one thing i dont need to worry about now. I will get on to my vet now and see what he says, thanks for the replies, will let you know how i get on
