Hi.
I am desperate for some help and I'm hoping maybe somebody might have an answer

I have a cat that went through a botched declaw. "Little girl" had a bone sticking through her pad so we took her to get it fixed. Fast forward 4 years and she started to hold her paws up and lick at them so I took her to our new vet. Turns out they removed some of the pad so it's thin and you can see her bone when you press it.

Our vet is unsure of where to go. Little girl is on an anti inflammatory but as we know that is not a long term solution.

This poor cat showed up at our door with a broken pelvis and a botched surgery 4 years ago. She has been through the ringer.

If anyone can point us in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

I hope you post more of your cats story. No animal should be mutilated for human convenience. Vets who botch this procedure ( as if there is a way to do it right) should be brought before their State Veterinary Board and cited for animal cruelty.

The very nice vet that takes care of my cats now still does this. It was an interesting discussion. And she is right. As long as it's legal and available people are going to do it. Her view was better she made sure the animal suffered as little as possible than hand them over to butchers who make a bad procedure even worse.

I find it interesting as I've seen more destruction to homes due to dogs claws tearing up walls, doors and floors than I ever have cats. If dog owners were chopping off their dogs first joint again there would be riots in the streets.

Thank you for taking this cat in. Her owners had her mutilated and put her out in the world unable to fend for herself. The one chance dumped cats have. Claws to hunt.
