I have 2 sphynx who came to me with diarrhea with blood in it.The breeder said they probably had trich because she had it in her cattery. My vet tested for it and it was negative. The breeder said it took her 3 teasts to get a positive result.I treated both cats with ronidazole without any bad effects. One cat got a bit better but the other one did not.A few months later I treated the one cat with ronidazole again. This did not help.I tried slippery elm and probiotics. One of the cats is doing better than the other. They are both on metronidazloe almost daily and this at least makes the stools formed, though one cat still has blood in it.If I stop the ronidazole they both get smelly diarrhea.I don't know what else to do and neither does my vet.Help.Any suggestions? The breeder swears it is trich and that the ronidazole fixed up her cats nicely.

I know that the vet probably did test for giardia and coccidia, but best to find out - it is important to find out if the test was done in house or sent to a lab. too. In house is not as accurate.

Agreed.  And how many doses of the ronidazole and for how long was each dose?
