Hello everyone! First Tuesday of 2016 ~ La dee da!

What are some words that you can never seem to spell correctly? Or, say correctly?

Regularly having to use spell checker, or to look it up, or even always having used the misspelled version for months/years and only just discovered the correct way? And so forth!

For myself in terms of spelling, it's the words humorous, pronounce and inefficient. And I also used to say pronounce wrong (I would say "pernounce") oh, the irony

Mayonnaise and mozzarella, for some reason. I speak German most of the time, and there are far too many words I mispronounce to list here. :lol3:

One word I mispronounce , is CHAI, as in chai tea.  I insist on saying KI where others say it ch-ai.  I don't know why I am stubborn about this!   And I know it is wrong but I still do it!

For some reason, I always want to say vaygen instead of vegan. Drives my vegan daughter nuts!

My Chicagoese is more noticeable than I realized because my out-of-town friends say that I pronounce the word Chicago wrong, lol.

I can't say because the words I have trouble with are so mangled that spell check has no clue.  I wind up getting out the paper dictionary.

Chicagoese!  I love that.  Sometimes I have trouble understanding my brother since I moved away 26 years ago.

I usually have trouble with a word like mozzarella!  When there are more than one set on double consonants, I run it through my mind - like- ok, is it mozarella, mozzarrella, mozarrella,
 Nothing looks right!

Mostly words that sound as if they could end in either "er" or  "or."  I invariably guess wrong.

yup, that gets me sometimes too!

the one that i've been struggling with a lot lately is surprise. for some reason i keep thinking that there is a 'z' in it, if it's form is surprised or surprising or surprisingly. i'm a big believer in finding a way, a connection, in things so that i remember them more easily. so, now that i've just noticed that there is no 'z' in any form of the word surprise i'll remind myself by noting that 'there is no form of the word that has a 'z' in it'.

OK, Darlin...here's the trick to it.  It's far easier to say than to spell.  The word is pronounced with only three syllables, and the first "r" is almost silent.  Then, the "shire" is almost a "shur," said quickly.  If you say Woostershur" you will be very, very close to correct.

I always spell definetly wrong and then have to go back and change it to definietly then definetely and finally definitely. Stupid word!

I used to pronounce chaos as Chay-os until I was in my teens.

I pronounce lots of Japanese words wrong. I'm not good at the TSU sound, so I make words like tsunami sound like sunami. There are so many words that start with TSU!

Occasionally. I always want to add more than one S.

The other day, I was reading on a board and somebody said, "Your so wrong about that". And I wanted to say, "It's 'you're'! It's not 'your'!" Stop it!

I can spell these words but I may not always use them correctly, they are too and to.  For some reason, I have always had a problem using those two words in a sentence correctly.

I spell nausea wrong most of the time and there are others that I just can't remember right now.
