Hello! I've been lurking on this site for quite some time, and finally decided to join! :) I originally found you googling kitten nutrition when me and my guy adopted a very tiny kitten (runt of the litter, just half the size of his littermates!) and re-discovered you just last night when I started looking up raw food for my older kitty.

So! Introductions!

This is my current baby, Ruby. She's almost three years old! I first met her when she was about a year old, when I started dating her daddy. He'd had her about 6 months at that point. My gorgeous girl is the light of my life, even if she is still a little bit of a daddy's girl.
Silly girl is a crazy-good hunter, used to catch mice and birds while she was wearing a bell, but she knows she's not allowed to kill our rattie. :)

We lost our baby, Jasper, to FIP just a few weeks ago. He was such a lover, absolutely a perfect cat, and Ruby just adored him. She used to pin him down to give him baths, and he just laid there and took it.
So tiny when we first got him! He was four months old in this picture.

This is when he was about eight months old, just a few short weeks before we lost him. Still tiny! I don't think he ever hit 4lbs!

We'll undoubtedly get another kitten eventually; Ruby's been so lonely since we lost Jasper. She always sleeps in "his" spots, or by mirrors, and I miss having a kitten around, but I'm nowhere near ready to move on yet.

Anywho. I'll probably drop in on a few threads about raw feeding, I want to give my baby the best that I can, and if there are any threads about harness/leash training, expect to see me there, too! Ruby used to be indoor/outdoor when my guy still lived with his mom, and while I'm not comfortable letting her roam free, I do want to bring her outside again. She LOVES the outdoors. ^-^

I'm so excited to be here! I don't know many cat people outside of my family, and it's good to find a group like this! :)

Welcome! Very cute kitty you have there. :) This site is a great place for info and discussions. Just want to mention rats are super social and are happiest with another rattie. I love cats and rats. :p I currently just have cats.

We had two rats, (Louis and Clark) but Clark died last year. We let him pay with Ruby as long as she's gentle, and Jasper used to explore with him :)

Glad you decided to join, Welcome :wavey:

Ruby is absolutely gorgeous! Jasper is precious, sorry you lost him to FIP; so heart breaking!

Looking forward to seeing you around the forums, I know there are several members that have cats they've "walked" and there are some great threads on outdoor enclosures & cat fencing if you have a back yard.

Your little rattie is a cutie! Love them, they are so sweet & really great pets! We even have a forum to discuss our other pets too! TCS is a wonderful community full of support and knowledge, glad you're here :)

Me and Miss Ruby aren't *really* New anymore, but somebody is!
I've been stressing for a while about whether or not to get a new cat/kitten. For a while, I was kind of obsessing about it. I'd finally decided to wait out my anxiety/depression and check out my old shelter in a few months, when this little girl popped into my life.
I got a message from someone looking to rehome her; mama (who's definitely at least part Manx) had followed them home, and eventually had two little girls. One had found a home a couple of months ago, but they needed a forever home for this little girl. They couldn't afford to keep her, as they already had two cats (including mama).
I'll admit I was a little hesitant, but something about her called to me.
So, I brought her home with me. We decided to continue our stone-name theme, and named her Onyx (although we're been calling her Ixie).
Ruby's not sure about her yet (it's only been a day now), but she's not hiding or punishing us or obsessively rubbing her face on everything. They're just sorta watching each other at this point. I got them playing with the same feather wand for a while last night.
She's nothing like Jasper, and I think I like that. Once things settle down a bit, I think she'll fit well. She's such a sweetie, and she wants to explore and play with everything.
I love her and her pointy little ears. :)
