I check the kitties feces after they finish in the litter box.

Saw a long thin spaghetti worm coming out of the feces.

This is a young kitty.  Don't think he's infested, will continue

to check daily.  I know there are products available from

the vet or without a scrip.

Question:  Anybody online know about mixing Diatomaceous Earth (food quality)

with the dry food to eliminate roundworms, tapeworms, hookworms.  I viewed a

video online showing how to do this.

Look forward to any helpful feedback/suggestions.

Hi. Almost all kittens are infested and will need 2-3 treatments of dewormer from the vet. Over the counter meds are not as effective, but it's quite simple from the vet.

How old are they?

Thank you kindly for responding.  The young rescued kitty

is maybe one year and possibly a little less.  I only saw

this one long thin worm come out of the feces.  Should

I wait to see if it happens again.

No. If you are seeing any worms they have an infestation. Get them all dewormed from the vet.

I've read on various posts that OTC wormers aren't that good.  Check with your vet and bring a fresh sample.

If you don't get him dewormed immediately at least call the vet about having him stool tested at least you'll be able to find out if he has any other kind of worm than the one you saw.

another long thin worm from his feces this evening.

If you see even one worm, then there is an infestation and it needs to be treated. Worms can reproduce fairly quickly. There may be unhatched eggs and very young worms in  your cat plus the adults. At least a few dworming treatments may be needed. The OTC stuff don't always work well so you do need to get a prescription from a vet. Follow the vet's instructions on how much to give and how often. One dose will not kill all the worms and eggs.

DE will not do a thing to kill worms.

A brief question to all the kitty lovers onboard who have had

issues with worms.  Has anybody been prescribed from their

vet a topical dewormer similar to the topical for fleas, but for

worms.  The topical for fleas worked great when I used it which

also didn't require a prescription from the vet.  This particular

name brand dewormer topical requires a prescription.  Any

feedback sure would be appreciated to keep this kitty safe.

You definitely want to get to the vet to check the worms so you'll know what kind of parasites you're dealing with.  Also, a lot of worms can be treated with Revolution or Advantage, if the kitty is old enough.  There are other meds that can be used for kittens.  Tapeworms also require a separate worm medication.

Yes, agree that the kitty needs to see a vet.  Revolution and Advantage

was mentioned.  Was anybody prescribed profender topical by their vet

and did it work.  There are different doses as per the weight of the kitty.

Again thanks for all the helpful feedback
