My cat had a ultrasound and his heart is fine, he has fluid in the chest and his appetitate is good and he has had blood work, xrays and drained once because his breathing was bad. The doctor does not seem to know what it is. He thinks it is a  tumor that is leaking and is cancer but it did not show on the blood work , xrays or the ultrasound and when the fluid was tested it did not show in the fluid. So how do we know he has cancer? The only problems he has is his kidneys are not doing well and then the fluid build up in the chest which no one seem tp know what it is.

Yes my kitty is on fluids but only 25 cc everyday because of the fluid in the chest. Bad new is his kidneys are failing . But the vet said it is not time yet to put him down we just take it day by day he is 17 and half years old but it hurts because he is so alert and eats well. I have 2 other cats that are 18 and a half years old and are doing fine. It is hard because Ziggy is my favorite since I lost mooie to cancer in feburary 24, 2015 and 2 days later another one with Lung cancer and I lost one in August and One in October. They were all 15 and older but it still hurts and I am not ready to lose Ziggy right now. But I want what is best for him and not to suffer. But he is alert and eats well.

Wow, that's rough. I'm sorry for all your losses last year. I'm just wondering if the 25 cc are doing more harm than good in your case. It's not a lot, and depending on where your cat is stage-wise, it almost doesn't make a dent in what is needed.

I hate when they have these conflicting issues, and you have to walk a fine line trying to figure out the best route to take.

Thank You for talking to me it is rough to lose so many . I had 30 at one time. I did pet rescue but I stopped because it was so hard and it hurts to much when you lose one or one is sick. The funny thing about it in 2009 I lost 4 cats all over 15 and my father in law and brother and then 6 years later in 2015 I lost 4 cats my mother in law and a good friend. It is hard for anyone to lose one animal or person but to lose so many it is awful. It hurts a lot because Ziggy is sitting with me and looking at me and he seem so peaceful. His Kidney are real bad he has 10 % left but he still eats and is somewhat active. The vet said just take it day by day.  It is hard when you know there days are numbered.
