Yesterday evening, after my cat ate her food (canned), she was sitting on the couch and I was giving her  a few cat treats and later she threw up. Nothing special about it, she does that sometimes, but what I noticed was that the treats were hardly chewed, nearly whole.

So I was wondering does anybody know if that it normal with hardfood? Do they just gulp stuff down after doing some mock up chewing, or should they really grind it down with the teeth like humans do?

I think most cats gulp down hard food without chewing it properly. If any of my cats throw up the hard stuff usually looks intact. Their teeth aren't designed for grinding the way ours are, they're better at ripping and tearing.

:yeah: Unless you're using a prescription dental kibble (which is big enough that cats HAVE to bite/chew it), most pieces tend to get swallowed whole. Nothing to worry about :)

Normal. Cats almost never chew their food, they swallow it whole.

Ok, thanks all, I was just thinking if this is something to worry about, but what you said about the teeth makes sense
