Hello everyone,

I'm at a loss on what to do next for my kitty. He's 13 and has FIV, and has a wound near his eye that will not heal. We've gone to a few vets and have tried everything they've suggested. We've had him in a cone, used betadine, neosporin, we've checked for ear mites, even had sutures done to close the wound. It's a bad combination of his body not healing well, and him being fidgety and finding ways to scratch or reopen the wound.

I don't know what to do at this point. I don't want him to be in a cone for the rest of his life, but if I take him out of it I'm afraid he'll just make it worse.

Has anyone had any experience or suggestions for something like this?

Where is the wound?  Do you have a picture of it?  Have any of the vets done a culture on it to make sure it's not a fungal type infection?

I'll post a picture of it when I get home from work. It's not fungal, it's from a scratch from one of my other cats. It started off small, but he won't leave it alone so it's gotten worse.
