Hi all,  Just brought home our new kitten on the 1st and he hasn't pooped yet-today is the 3rd.  I called the breeder and she was not too concerned thought he probably just isn't used to his new home yet.  He is eating fine, playful, friendly all that good stuff- just hasn't pooped yet.  Breeder suggested feeding him some milk which I did about 5-6 hours ago but so far no poop.  Any advice?

What kind of milk are you feeding him?  I agree that you don't need to be too concerned yet; some cats take a while to acclimate to their new home.  You could give him a bit of plain canned pumpkin to help move things along.

The breeder also suggested a small amount of olive oil on his wet food.  The milk I used was 1 or 2% cow milk he only got a little bit.  We don't have any pumpkin on hand but could certainly buy some, though not till tomorrow. My hubby is calling to vet to schedule an appt for routine check up tomorrow and we'll see what vet has to say.  Kitty does not appear to be uncomfortable.

Oh, cats actually can't digest cow milk.  They can have goat milk if needed, but cow milk will actually cause an upset stomach.  Olive oil is a common suggestion.

Try not to worry too much.

I agree it may take a few days. My latest foster took a few days to go and I was a little worried but he ended up finally going after a few days. Good luck!

Thanks all.  Other than not pooping he seems just fine.  I was a little surprised the breeder suggested milk-but I only gave him a tiny bit.  Will try some olive oil tomorrow in hopes that could help.   He sure is a cute, active, fun little guy
