i washed my 6 month old kitten's rump with a few drops of Castile soap with tea tree oil. I then was concerned and found, on the Internet, that tea tree oil is toxic to cats. I immediately rinsed cats rump again and then washed him off with Johnsons & Johnsons baby shampoo. Has anyone else made this error & if so how worried should I be?

How much tea tree oil is in the soap? If it's less than 2% it's unlikely to do your cat any harm. The higher the percentage the greater the risk.

If you ever need to bathe a cat the safest thing to use is Dawn Dish Soap.

Is your cat showing any symptoms?

I wouldn't be too worried I think you did all the right things. But to be on the safe side keep a close eye on him

Thanks for the fast reply. I'm not sure of the concentration. It was Dr Bronners liquid & tea tree oil extract is the fourth ingredient listed. I only used a couple of drops on a cloth. He seems fine for now just a tad upset by his first experience in the tub.

LOL I think  and hope the worst thing to come out of this experience is the bath. Sleep with one eye open tonight lol
