Cat right, dog wrong, lol.
Funny, I've only had one cat ever scratch the area around his food. That was Lucky, and he only did it when he stopped eating when he was in end-stage renal failure. I always assumed he was trying to tell me that he thought of it as something that belonged in the litter box! He would actually try to bury it under my blanket of all things.
