Not too much going on tonight, at least not that I'm aware yet. Rick may have some plans that he didn't tell me about; that happens sometimes.
  • Breakfast for the furkids, then hit the treadmill for 3.5 miles, scooped the litter boxes, made the bed, hit the shower, and came to work
  • Called the vet this morning for check-ups for Ms. Pepe and BooBoo
  • Will scoop the boxes again tonight
  • A quick vacuum about the house
  • Trying to play catch-up with Outlander on Starz; I think I have three episodes to watch yet, then the season finale. I cancelled it on Prime and called the cable company to get it that way; it's cheaper in the long run to go through the cable company.
  • Contractor is coming tomorrow to install the closet doors; Rick will be taking the day off work. Tonight we have to clean out the closet or at least try to straighten things up. (Rick is going to ask him how much he'd charge us to install a sun tunnel in the bathroom. We have two sun tunnels in our kitchen and, honestly, it has made a WORLD of difference in lighting in the kitchen! Our bathroom is also north-facing, so it's rather dark all the time.)

Today I did a quick morning routine. Did not have time to brush Artie.

I had to pick up a couple of friends to drive over to the New Balance Factory Outlet Store. None of us has been there. It was amazing. The staff is so pleasant, kind and patient..

FYI: This is the only store I have ever heard of that will sell mismatched sneakers!! Unbelievable!! Yes, they are a bit more expensive than just buying a standard size, but when you have problems finding the correct size, they are there to help you. They measure your foot and really go out of the way to help find you the proper sneaker. We were all very impressed.

I bought a pair of cross trainers for the gym, and a pair of shoes which were in the clearance area. Also a work out bra.. Hard for me to find a good one that fits well and is not expensive. That was reduced to $16.99... a bargain down from $34..

We walked over to the restaurant next door for lunch. I had a House Salad. Really good. Boston lettuce, tomatoes, goat cheese, cashews, Roasted red and gold beets, with a dressing of honey mustard and white balsamic vinegar-on the side. It was delicious!

Came home, made a nice green iced tea for myself, grabbed a bunch of peanuts and sat outside for an hour and a half. It was very hot when I went out, but a breeze picked up. As we call it around here, a sea breeze. I shut the AC off and opened the windows. I almost fell asleep out there. Now the neighbors are home, and the whining toddlers are out.

Supervised the movers unloading the truck.
Sat down to play my piano that I haven't had in my home for the last year.
Sitting here surrounded by boxes that are waiting to be unpacked. (It's called procrastinating).

Busy day today. The contractor came just as I was leaving for work, so I got a chance to talk to him for a few minutes. I really like him; in fact, we have been blessed with a really good contractor and a wonderful electrician. Good repair people and a great plumber.  I'd like to put a sun tunnel in our bathroom while we're remodeling the bathroom. The two sun tunnels in our kitchen are just wonderful and give us a lot of gorgeous light during the day. He's going to be doing the construction in the bathroom. He came in today to do some work in the bedroom. (Now I really do need to get serious about the window blinds for the bedroom. Blinds? Drapes? Nothing?
 )

Anyway.....
  • Hair appt right after work. Thank god for root cover-ups! I have been able to go almost two months now between colors since I started using Loreal spray root touch-ups. I was going in about every 4 weeks.
  • Rick has a meeting this afternoon about his pension plan. Things are starting to happen with pension plans. I already had to deal with it from the paper plant where I worked years ago. Now it's Rick's turn. We are so close to retirement and whatever decisions we make will affect retirement. It's kind of scary in a way. What do you do with your pension??? (It's rhetorical)
  • Three loads of laundry tonight
  • Cleaning the litter boxes for trash night tonight
  • It's an exercise night (I may have to put it off til tomorrow night, but I'm going to really try not to)

Hoping for an easy day today....we'll see how that goes.
  • Breakfast for the furkids, followed by 3.5 miles on the treadmill, made the bed, scooped the boxes, grabbed a quick shower, came to work
  • Target for meds and the grocery store....we've been invited to have dinner with friends on Friday night and I'm bringing dessert. I'm making a Peanut Butter and Chocolate Dessert and it will have to be made tonight to chill overnight. I need cream cheese, some mini peanut butter cups, and some Oreo cookies (Rick is desperately hoping I don't need all of the Oreo cookies for the dessert!)
And I think that's pretty much it. Shouldn't be too much going on.

  • Breakfast for the kids, then 3.5 miles on the treadmill this morning
  • Scoop the boxes
  • Errands: Target, Lowes
  • Vacuum, a quick Swiffer, wipe down the kitchen and bathroom
  • I guess it's time to mow the buckhorns this afternoon; that's the only thing growing in the yard at this point
  • Some online shopping. Rick needs to order our fridge water filters (through Amazon, we save about $10; we buy two at a time and that sees us for a year) and he says he's finally ordering the "guts" to our gas grill today. He has to because I have a really nice pork shoulder in the freezer that is just yelling "Pulled Pork! Pulled Pork!"
  • Tonight is an exercise night (because I didn't get it done last night, we weren't home)

Today is a cleaning day! Yuck!

Plans:

change bedsheets,

put clean laundry away,

Wash dirty laundry

dust,

vacuum

Possibly go through hall closet to purge some really old things

Probable Reality:

Change bed

Laundry-Wash and put away

dust

Vacuum

and then to make supper. Took some chicken thighs out. Planning on cooking that today, along with a salad for supper.

Oh, and brush Artie, try to play with him...

Rest time on the computer in-between jobs...for break time

You guys would be proud of me!

Yesterday I did:

Cook potatoes and eggs=made potato salad

chopped veggies ate salad

defrosted chicken-its marinating now.

swept and mopped the kitchen floor while waiting for food to cook

washed pillow cases and my sheets-they are in dryer when I left for work.

today:

Go to petstore and find food to feed the critters

grocery store for ziplock thick bags to store kibble

mail back glasses that didn't fit

cook chicken on grill if its not pouring out

sheesh do I ever get a break?!

It is so nasty sweaty out=didn't sleep well either. too hot.

Three things, eh?

hmm...

Take care of Captain Meow.

DO my long range budget planning.

Spend hours moping, introspectively about where I am and where I've been, and how I oughta feel about that. (well, it may affect how my budget gets designed for the next year).

Things did not go over well last night.

Just as we started down the steps to the front door to leave the house for grocery shopping, we heard Molli puking in the bedroom. Went back and she had puked all over the bed (and I had just changed the bed sheets on Sunday morning). Rick grabbed paper towels and cleaner and started cleaning. Then I took the comforter (which Molli also managed to puke on and I had just washed that, too) and the sheets down to the basement. Started the washing machine, put stain stuff on the puke area, put the sheets into the washer and then turned it off to let it all soak a bit. Poured stain stuff on the comforter, too, and put that on the floor. And then we left to grab some groceries. Came home and did two loads of laundry. I was not amused in the slightest. After everything was washed and dried, I re-made the bed.

We're thinking it's the heat and, especially, the humidity playing havoc with her belly.

So today:
  • Breakfast for the furkids, followed by 3.5 miles on the treadmill. Made the bed, grabbed a quick shower.
  • Must scoop the litter boxes tonight (I'm getting to the point where I don't have time to do them in the morning anymore. I just don't. I'm considering dragging my butt out of bed at 4:30 instead of 4:45, simply to get some extra time in the morning.)
  • Need to do my PT stretches tonight
And that may be it for the night.

tonight-Floey sees vet at 5:30. Last night I smashed up Pepcid and put in babyfood=it was like 1ml of fluid and syringed it-an hour later=she ate a bit. this morning-dish EMPTY. The heat bothers all the cats.

Then post office before vet to mail glasses=it poured bloody forever yesterday when I went to store-I didn't make it to post office. people driving slow

Then chop a salad=I never had time last night. Was fighting getting meds in a crabby old lady cat.

I also need to wash the blankets. I told Jon they starting to stink. He says they smell fine.
Of course he doesn't smell anything. I told him he was sweating in his sleep again even with AC going. But he was bundled up like a baby.

I intend to weed some gardens tonight but I doubt I will make it. usually a vet appointment takes an hour. talking then figuring out plan of action.

awww...your poor Molli! and poor you, having to clean up the vomit and do the extra loads of laundry!
you might want to discuss some pepcid ac for your girl, with your vet. i dissolve it in a little water, then mix it into our jaspurr's and sometimes punky's wet food. so much easier than trying to pill them.

already done:  meals for myself and the cats thus far, washed the dishes, scooped the litter boxes, made bread machine bread, made a phone call, and filled out a form i'll need to send off.

still to do:   will work on my budget a bit, and must watch last nights Late Show with Steve Colbert -- someone shared with me that he crashed the GOP convention yesterday morning, actually got on stage and managed to say a few words into the microphone......

1. pondering the budget still

2. watching the cat's bathroom habits still (I don't need to, it's just something I enjoy) (ok, that was an awful joke!)
( Forgive me, I was just watching some old clips of John Lennon. Always with the jokes, he was. A bit infectious.)

3. making chicken curry over rice tonight

@mickNsnicks2mom, thanks for the info on Pepcid. We have a vet appt on Aug 9 for Boo and Pepe and I will talk to the vet about Molli. She doesn't puke often, but she did twice that day, both her breakfast and her supper. We think it might be the heat, but I will definitely ask the vet. Thanks!

@Winchester

I am giving my guy 1/2 Pepcid AC tablet daily. Currently, while he is in his IBD Flare, it has been upped to 1/2 tab twice a day.

I really do think the heat is getting to all our kitties. I cannot tell you how many people I have run into, who have had some kind of episode (cold, stomach issues) over the past week. It is really amazing. last week I ran into 3 people who all had to take their cat to the Vet for something.

honestly, I think it is the heat. Artie will usually go out on the balcony while I am there. In fact, he begs to go out there. Because of the heat, he will ask to go out, but only stay out there for 2-3 minutes and then he is begging to come back in.

He has been doing much better, however, because I am sick of the AC, I had the windows and door open yesterday. He did not eat during the day. When I finally shut them, and put the AC on, he must have cooled off and ate like a pig...I swear the heat is too much for them.

Today is a beautiful day. I am planning on staying home, cleaning my bathroom and hopefully, getting his bathroom cleaned along with the litter boxes. That will take a while to do. I will take frequent breaks and sit out on the balcony, to enjoy the weather..
