  • Errands: banking, a run to our local natural food store (I need whole wheat pastry flour and am hoping they have it), Target, etc.
  • We may do some outside work today, if the weather holds....the weeds are taking over the flower beds!
  • If it does rain and we have to stay inside, there's plenty of housework to keep me busy

I am finishing up my coffee at the moment. I slept a little later this morning. I am going to the drug store, thrift stores and the grocery. I am taking my time and just going to enjoy being out. I miss my best friend who used to go out on jaunts like this with me. They sold their house and moved away. I need a new girl friend.

I am about to get up, wash the dishes, bed making, and out to the cemetery before the possible showers begin. I plan on staying in the rest of the day to clean and do some laundry..

it's just way too hot here today! i was planning on prepping, portioning, and freezing more raw cat food but just too hot to safely have raw meats out for even a relatively short period of time. they're in the fridge and not completely thawed yet, so i'll wait until tomorrow morning -- forecast to be not quite as hot and overcast tomorrow.

so for today, i made our meals so far, got another jar of raw cat food to the fridge to thaw, scooped the litter boxes, and washed the dishes. i also put the lids/rims on the jars of raw i prepped/portioned/froze yesterday.

i'll definitely be putting in the window ac unit upstairs this coming week. i'm thinking, hoping, that i can just use one window ac this year. with my raynaud's, i get cold so very easily from the ac being on and i'm hoping that having one ac upstairs, cranked up on high, will cool the downstairs enough to be comfortable on the very hot days coming this summer.

  • Working on some laundry right now. I took the flannel sheets off the bed for washing and put regular linen sheets on the bed. I'm also washing the electric blanket and will put that away and have our summer blanket out now. I think summer is really here.
  • A bit of vacuuming and dusting, a quick wipe-down in the kitchen and bathroom.
  • Going to Lowes for water softener salt and shock for the pool.
We need to get the pool open. We were going to do it yesterday, but had to go up to Rick's mom's house with his sister for some clean-up there. Once we got back home, it was too hot to be outside working. But the thing has to get opened or we're going to have a mess on our hands. The good news is that our son came up with his FIL's truck and he picked up the furniture that he wanted to have.

Still need to get rid of the tvs and such. That's a matter of Rick taking a couple of hours off work to take them to recycling.

i'm very happy that we're getting rain now. the rain has broken up the humidity, so it's much more comfortable here now.

already done:  made meals thus far for the cats and myself, prepped/portioned/froze some more raw cat food (from the most recent order), and washed the dishes

still to do:  move a package of marinated pork chops to the fridge to thaw, move two 5lb chubs of raw meat (for cat food) to the fridge to start thawing, and scoop the litter boxes -- it's cooler in the evening, for scooping the litter boxes.

We had rain last night and earlier this morning. Our local weatherweenies are calling for showers throughout the day today with t-storms starting in around 3:00 pm.
  • Didn't make it to Lowes yesterday (got busy in the basement), so we're going down later on this morning.
And I think that may be it for today. Since it's supposed to be rainy/showery, we'll probably spend the afternoon working in the basement.

Back to work this morning....those three days went quickly. I did manage to get the yard mowed yesterday afternoon before the t-storms started coming through. And we did get the pool opened; boy, it's a lovely shade of green. From all the birds crapping through the mesh winter cover, the water's really a mess. So now it's matter of cleaning/filtering out the water, get it stabilized, etc. Swimming should begin (hopefully) next weekend!

And man, did it ever pour yesterday when that first storm roared through. Rick was up at his mom's house when it rumbled through and there was no way I could get the pool cover rolled up and moved into the shed, not by myself. So it's soaked and will have to dry out again.
  • Back to the normal breakfast routine around here, treadmill, litter box scooping, etc. Followed by a nice hot shower, got dressed for work and here I am.
  • A bit of grocery shopping tonight as we didn't go yesterday.
  • I'd like to start a bit of an exercise program tonight. Nothing exotic, a few dumbbell exercises and some crunches, etc on the exercise mat. I've been putting it off far too long now.

Nothing really, other than a hair appt tonight. I might stop at the mall on my way home, but that depends on how my leg feels.

Other than that, it's the normal litter box scooping and a vacuum around the house. With the hot, sticky weather, I swear I vacuum enough fur every night to make a kitten. We brush the kids, but man, the fur is coming out like you wouldn't believe!

already done:   breakfasts for the cats and myself; washed the dishes

still to do:  dice some celery, carrots, sweet gherkin pickles, and several hard boiled eggs (prep for the macaroni salad i'll be making on sunday); scoop the litter boxes this evening; turn over the two 5lb chubs of raw cat food in the fridge that's working on thawing

try to get over/through the headache and nausea i'm feeling.

Hope you're feeling better, mickNsnicks2mom.
  • Did the breakfast thing with the kids, emptied out the dishwasher, cleaned out the litter boxes, made the bed, got ready for work.
  • I may head over to the public library during lunch. It frustrates me that I can't walk over there; if I go, I'll have to drive and it seems like such a waste of gas.
  • We're thinking of hitting the mall tonight. Haven't decided yet.

I've got $10 in CVS bucks and a 30% off coupon, so I'll be heading there

Kohls has a sale on pillows, I have a 20% off coupon and Kohls bucks. Aaron has always had to have super flat, really hard pillows. While we were away he fell in love with the fluffy ones at the hotels we stayed at, so he wants new pillows. :lol3:

Pick up bagels.

Good! I'm glad you're feeling better.

Rick is going up to help out at his BIL's public sale today. He's leaving around 6:00 and I probably won't see him until around 6:00 tonight. He's going to have a busy day. So while he's gone, I will:
  • Do the litter box scooping, throw some laundry in the washer this morning
  • Vacuum, dust a bit, wipe down the kitchen and bathroom, change the bedsheets today (instead of Sunday), etc.
  • And do whatever else I feel like doing about the house
  • And when I'm done, I'm going to flop down on the couch with my iPad, prop my leg up on a pillow, and read for the rest of the time he's gone

pretty quiet day here today. the whole roasting chicken is not nearly thawed yet -- it's between 5 and 6 lbs, so it takes time for it to thaw. so no roasting of the chicken for today. but that's good, because in looking on the internet for a slow cooker chicken stock recipe -- will be making this with the carcass and then making the stock into chicken noodle soup, i found what looks like a great slow cooker roast chicken recipe. i'll make my roast chicken in the slow cooker instead of the oven, and much less mess to clean up too!
i moved the jumbo hot dogs to the freezer last night to start thawing.

already done:  breakfasts for the cats and myself, lids/rims were put on the jars of raw cat food (that i prepped/portioned/froze yesterday) in the freezer, made some instant banana cream pudding, and washed the dishes

still to do:   will scoop the litter boxes this evening, after the cats snack and my dinner. and am expecting delivery of the chewy order today -- will unpack the 2 cases of canned cat food and the epi-otic (ear cleaning) solution. will move a 1-cup zipper bag of chopped onion from the freezer to the fridge to thaw -- for the roast chicken recipe.

We are supposed to have t-storms pretty much all day today, lasting into the evening. So far, we have nothing, but it's really sticky in the house, even with the windows open. I was hoping to be able to mow the lawn; I guess we'll find out if the storms do move in.

The hose to our Dyson has a huge hole in it. Heck, I don't think it was all that long ago that Rick put a new hose on the vacuum! As much as I love the way the Dyson picks up, especially cat litter, those hoses are terrible and they simply do not last. I think this will be the fourth (maybe even fifth) hose now. We have a Hoover Wind Tunnel, but that's pretty much useless picking anything up. He's going to order yet another hose, although I'm ready to just buy a new vacuum cleaner. Again. Problem is, I honestly don't know what to buy. I'd really like to just get another Dyson (they do pick up well), but don't want to spend that much money and then go through the whole hose-thing in another year or two anyway. Needless to say, there was no vacuuming about the house yesterday.
  • Try to work with the Hoover enough to at least get the living room and hallway vacuumed
  • Do one load of laundry; it's basically pillow cases and blankies for the cats
  • Time to trim Molli's and Tabby's claws; must check Tabby's ears, too  (always the first Sunday of every month and we always check Tabby's ears; she was the one with the massive mite infection when she was a kitten and she still has problems from time to time. The best way to keep an eye on things is a simple ear cleaning when we do her claws.)
  • Manicure tonight - I have a green picked out; it's Curry Up by Sinful Colors
  • A soup recipe that I want to try: Hamburger Minestrone. It has ground beef, onion and garlic, tomatoes, zucchini, kidney beans, corn, shredded cabbage, and pasta. Makes about 3 quarts of soup; I'm thinking I can freeze it, too, even with the pasta. 1-1/2 cups equals 194 calories, so a serving with a muffin would still keep me in check and it might be a nice soup for a week-night. (I make low-fat muffins and throw them in the freezer from time to time.)
