- Rick and I just finished giving The Beast a bath. Got her all dried-off and gave her a good brushing. She's been rolling around on the living room floor now for about five minutes. The cats are looking at her like she's a crazy old thing. But I think the cats were sympathizing with her; all kinds of crazy things happen when we take one of them into the bathroom: claws get clipped, ears get cleaned, dogs get bathed. It's just a terrible thing!
Rick was brushing her out while I was cleaning out the bathtub; I started running water into the tub and Jackie got this, "Oh no! We JUST did this!" look and ran out of the bathroom.
- On my second load of laundry. I have four loads to do today and I need to get them done. My sister is coming over to use the dryer later on this afternoon. Their bathroom is almost finished now, but the dryer is not hooked-up yet and she needs to get some laundry done. She was going to go to the laundromat, but I told her to come over here. And in truth, she hates the laundromat as much as I do.
- Some housework and general cleaning. Wipe down the kitchen and bathroom. Scoop the boxes. Clean the kitty schnuffle off the living room window and the bedroom windows. Change the bed sheets.
- While I'm puttering about the house, I'm going to make some shredded BBQ beef for the freezer. I thawed a huge chuck roast yesterday; I'm going to use some of it for dinner tonight and use the remainder for the shredded beef. Makes a quick supper when we need it. I also thawed some leftover ham yesterday (it's from a couple of months ago and needs to be used) and am going to make split pea soup.

-placed an amazon order -- capsules of powdered lysine (for allie, and jaspurr and deedee as needed -- better than the maple flavored 'gooey'), and to bring up the total into free shipping (the lysine was an add-on item) i ordered some more toy mice and a two pack of mysterious purr pads

well, today went by in a blur here!
the highlights of today were: my mom came through her knee replacement surgery fine, i got all the daily chores done, jaspurr and the girls are doing very well together -- had a rousing play session together this evening with the cat dancer wand toy, and i set up the free 30-day trial of netflix (though didn't find the time to actually watch anything yet)
it's frigid here tonight, and the heated mattress pad on my bed is calling my name. so i'm off to bed now...

Rick is going to clean at his parents' house. While he's gone, I plan to....

- took two shelter cats to the vet's office - they're finally free of ringworm!

thank you! probably within the next 7 days-ish, mom will transfer over to the facility she stayed at when she had her hip replacement done. she'll have physical therapy there until her knee is healed and she's back to being able to walk well enough on it. once she's at that facility, i should be able to call her for our weekly chats -- though she'll be doing quite a bit of the physical therapy, so that will make it hard for us to 'catch' each other.

-picked out today's bunch of toys for the girls; got the girls playing with their toys, and now they're napping
-went down to the basement, as the furnace was trying to start up but wasn't -- turned it off for a minute or two, then back on; checked the filter, which was needing replacing...can't locate the spare filters right now, so left the filter out -- but the furnace is running now
-placed an amazon order for furnace filters
-allie had 'pudding consistency' poop this morning, so will watch that. other than that she seems fine, running and playing, eating very well. will locate the canned pumpkin i have on hand and see if i have any plain metamucil on hand. i'll see how allie's next poop is, then decide if i should call our vet -- vet told me to call as needed.
still to do...
-another dose of 'gooey' for all 3 cats this evening
-scoop litter boxes
-take a closer look at allie's eyes; hopefully will see a little less irritation than we saw at the vet's on saturday -- we've only given 2 1/2 days worth of lysine doses so far

Rick cleaned a bit at his parents' house last night, basically trashing some of the boxes of food, old herbs and spices, etc. Some cans of food, he did bring home for us to use, but the majority of stuff was thrown into the dumpster. So while he was gone, I did a quick run-through with the vacuum (even though I said I wasn't doing anything) and then Mollipop, Jackie, and I flopped down on the couch with a book for a while. So tonight....
- Is trash night, which means cleaning out all the litterboxes. I also need to wipe down the inside of the refrigerator.
- I have two loads of laundry to work on (piles are in the hallway, waiting for me to come home)
- need to go buy a pack of chicken breasts.
