I'm praying for Jaspurr!!!!!!! [emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]128591[/emoji][emoji]128591[/emoji]was checking on our jaspurr through the night last couple of nights, as he seems to be struggling with a hairball. i've given him petroleum jelly, he's eating well and peeing/pooping well, but seems to not feel quite well and is making the classic hoarking up of hairball pose/sounds. i worry about a possible URI but have seen no runny nose or nose snot, his ears are cool to the touch, his nose is cold and wet, and no third eye lid showing. i'll give it until maybe tuesday to see if the hairball comes up. if he seems worse or about the same on tuesday, i'll get us to the vet's to have him looked at.
today i did our usual morning routine: added wood to the wood stove, gave the cats their breakfasts then made my breakfast, scooped litter boxes, and washed the dishes. after the cats 1pm-ish snack, i settled the girls in for their nap and made my lunch then wrote up my 'to do' list for tomorrows busy day. i've got jaspurr down in the living room with me now, enjoying the quiet and warm while the girls are having their afternoon nap. i'll run the washer load later this afternoon.
i'll start my meal planning for next month later today, and work a bit on my shopping list.
other than the above, i'm keeping a close eye on jaspurr, and i'll watch some tv.
thank you! we're off to the vet's today, as i'm relatively sure our jaspurr has an URI. i believe the URI originated with our deedee, so she's going to be checked too -- she seems fine other than an occasional sneeze, she had some drippy nose about a week ago which has stopped. allie will come along, as she cannot handle being alone though she's not showing any symptoms.I'm praying for Jaspurr!!!!!!! Good Luck at the Vet's. Poor Jaspurr. Those girls are 'troublemakers"

so today i'm up early. i've called the taxi (i can't believe i've found a taxi service that operates in my rural area -- though it'll cost as much or more for the taxi there and back as it does for the vet's), and have a quote. i'll call our vet's shortly after 8am to set up an appointment.
after the vet's, i've got firewood to move, laundry to finish, a few dishes to wash, a bill to mail off, vacuuming, and litter box scooping to do.
ohhhh... poor Jaspurr....
@Winchester, @Artiemom, @AbbysMom, and @GLORY JASMINE -- after seeing our vet, taking xrays, and sending xrays off (emailed or electronically -- fast) to radiologist for further interpretation, we have a diagnosis for our jaspurr. it seems to be an allergic reaction, the effects of which are mainly in his throat. this helped enormously, because something 'clicked' in my mind and i remembered what i'd read about seasoning the new wood stove -- that the fumes can cause a reaction in humans and animals, especially people with asthma. i did ventilate the house as best i could, but it seems that our jaspurr had a reaction to it. our vet has jaspurr taking clavamox pills twice daily, and i'll call to give the vet an update on wednesday. should the clavamox not start to help by wednesday, our vet is thinking a short course of prednisone. jaspurr seems to not be doing any worse, and possibly a bit better already -- after 3 doses of clavamox. pilling jaspurr is quite hard, and i don't want to stress him, so this morning i tried just enough of a white american cheese slice to cover the pill then rolled that in some freeze dried chicken treats powder. jaspurr ate that right up easily, and enjoyed it too!

anyway, today i've got everything i absolutely need to do done already -- we've all had our breakfasts (kitties with their lysine, and jaspurr had his clavamox pill), washed the dishes, scooped litter boxes, and continued working on tidying the kitchen counters -- just a little each day and when i have time doing more (just clutter, but it needs tidying up).
i got a phone call that my order of rad cat frozen raw is in, so that'll get picked up on my next shopping trip in early february.
i'll try to get started on my meal plan for february, and continue working on my shopping list today. and i'll take a look at my budgets for the next few months, and figure out replenishing our jaspurr's emergency fund. note: that taxi to and back from the vet's cost me $138 total -- reasonable rate per mile, but i live 22 miles from our vet's. so i'll be starting to fund a new emergency fund, specifically for (vet emergency) taxi costs.
other than that, i'll watch some tv -- i'm thinking PBS's new series Mercy Street.
thank you! our jaspurr seems to be continuing to feel better. it's only been about 2 days since seeing our vet, and 5 doses of the clavamox pills. it's a 10-day course of clavamox that our vet prescribed.micknsnicks2mom-I'm so glad that Jaspurr is ok!!! I'm praying for his speedy recovery! And that he doesn't get to be too much of a chunky monkey eating all the American cheese bribes!! Lol I'm just relieved that your sweet baby is showing progress!!! And that you've come up with a way to pill him that is as easy on him as possible. I have a couple of "hard to pill" cats myself,so I understand. [emoji]128579[/emoji]
Important phone call regarding our lawsuit accident [emoji]129301[/emoji]

thank you! i've always told our jaspurr that, just like our little snick, if/when he gets sick and/or needs 'special needs' type care his mommy will look after him and care for him.
Bless you, mickNsnicks2mom, for taking such good care of your furkids. I'm so glad Jaspurr is going to be OK. And it sounds like the Clavamox is doing its job already.
thank you! yeah, my boy was feeling really lousy -- i could see it in the expression on his face. today he's been upstairs/downstairs several times, played with his girls and with cat toys, been looking out the windows, and doesn't have that 'feeling lousy' expression on his face. all very good signs of starting to feel better!
ohhhh... poor Jaspurr....
But at least it is an allergy, AND you know what is causing it.
Hopefully, the smell will be gone soon....and the meds will kick in...
You are such a great mom...
Great idea to think of and fund an emergency fund for your kitties! Great Idea!!
Thank you for the update.

How are you feeling about the series; Mercy Street? I recorded the first 2 episodes, but have not watched them yet.
