Here's a comparison picture (best photo I could find for the before). On the left, last summer and around 190-195 pounds. On the right, today and 165 pounds. I really see the difference when I see it side by side. I've basically lost the weight of one of my kids.
Great job

Great job @catlover19

I am still at the same 186/188 but its because I cant stop eating at night. The other night I tried a trick-used mouth wash and flossed. I didn't want to eat and have to dirty up my teeth. last night I ate a brownie because I have been craving a brownie for days. I brushed my teeth right after and mouth washed-went to bed and didn't eat in the middle of the night even though I woke up at 1am hungry.

I have been upping the protein in the morning-2 boiled eggs and a 30 gram bar and it keeps me full for a few hours but I still eat my lunch at 9:30 because if I eat at 11 then at 12 when I start kicking into overdrive then I keep burping the food. so for now I am hungry at 1:30 after my workout which is perfect-I eat protein.

So this weekend I plan on using the crockpot even though Jon wants to go to Applebees. He has already shed the 15 lbs he has been wanting to shed. He walks the neighborhood and cut back on cookies etc. He now weighs less than I do but I am ok with it. I told him in a year maybe I can pick him up and sling him over my shoulder

Winchester I will have to look into that diet-I would love to loose 2 inches off my waist-steady at 39 inches..would love to get to 36 inches.

Working out makes me ravenous. I usually do a smoothie with peanut butter after a hard workout. I'll eat small blander snacks before a workout (granola bar, banana) and they seem to keep me from burping. But if I eat something with a lot of flavor, I'm burping tacos during cardio.

And I think *most* men lose weight a lot faster than women. Our metabolisms work differently than them. I've seen a guy drop like 15 lbs and tone up in a month by just cutting out fast food and working out, seems to work a little slower for women.

I am so confused on something. I weighed in at 220.4 on Tuesday. Then yesterday had a stomach bug. The pain was so bad I went to the ER. They gave me fluids. Because of the bug I only got in 950 in calories. I am feeling a little better today but the confusing part was I weighed 222.8 this morning. I wanted to cry.

Just a guess, but your weight gain is probably from the fluids they gave you at the ER.  Especially since the fluids were to prevent dehydration.  Hope you feel better soon.  And can keep something in your stomach today.

Definitely easier for us guys, not sure why, but yeah I just need a little deficit and weight melts down, if I do deficit only now and then I loose weight even faster.

I don't know if some of that is because I can burn 800 calories in an hour and that is not very hard, maximum I have done has been around 1200 calories in an hour and that was awesomely sweaty hard :lol3:

Fueling up before doing workout is something I like to do, helps me push harder for longer and afterwards I'm not getting so hungry.

Protein I take during the day, around 40 grams 3 times a day.

One day I ate 5 pizzas as one pizza is around 800 calories and I burn on active days between 4000 and 6000 calories, trouble is making all that food and still having time to sweat enough, I don't know any girl having same problem and most guys I know have a wife that does the cooking.

So I tend to eat sweets, which is ton of sugar and bad fats, quick calories.

I would love to have enough big freezer so that I could pre-cook stuff to freezer and just throw them into oven when time to eat, maybe some day.

I strongly recommend strength training-you can do a lot with 5lb hand weights. If you are not familiar with weight exercises-there are a few workouts on youtube I highly recommend-one is GymRa and Melissa Bender-they have some great workouts-or fitness blender also has many specific target workouts. You don't need fancy equipment=you can learn yoga body weight exercises that are just as hard as some of the other ones.

The biggest mistake I have made in the 4-5 months I have been working out is not resting enough-meaning for every 5 days of workout=take 1 day off. Sometimes some people do better with cardio and others do better with restricting the diet. I am still trying to transition from junk eating to better choices. I have to say 50% of the time I make good  choices..this summer I will work on it some more. and watch the salt intake-you would be surprised how much water retention causes the scale to go up. Found out the hard way with Chinese food.

Did you adjust your caloric deficit as you lost weight? You now weigh less so you need to eat even less. You can still overeat healthy foods. Are you drinking enough water and getting enough rest? These are simple things that people tend to overlook. Keep going. The last few pounds are really hard to budge. You can do it though. Stay strong. :D

Males lose weight faster than females due to hormones. Males naturally have a higher muscle mass than females and can increase muscle mass much faster than females. It is usually recommended that males eat no less than 1800 calories per day and females eat no less than 1200 calories per day when dieting.

You need to adjust your calories and movement. I would go to a site like MyFitnessPal or Calorie Count and have you calories adjusted. I know for every ten pounds Myfitnesspal will ask you to do it. It's real easy. Also the less weight you need to lose the longer it takes. I have lost 60 some pounds since January but I was close to 300 when I started. It's going to take time and patience but if you do it right it will come off.

I think it is kind of unfair, I mean if I would be a girl, I wouldn't had lost much weight at all yet, failing to stick on diet should have more punishment for us guys, that would make it more fair! :lol3:

But at least those last few pounds are quite hard to get rid of, at least for me that is, so there is some justice at least!

You are right it is unfair the difference in weight loss in men and women. Me I watch every calorie that goes in and it hard when I really want to pig out on that bag of chips or candy bar. But I want those smaller clothes also. So I don't. Then my SO is 46 years old, 6 foot tall and wears the same size he did in high school. He has set down and ate two Grand Mac's a Large fries and a Large drink. Grand Macs are twice the size of a regular Big Mac. They are 755 calories a piece So he ate more in one sitting than I do all day.

I had a good chat with my personal trainer about my nutrition/ diet this morning. He thinks I'm eating too much. I was worried that I wasn't eating enough to build muscle. Sheesh. He told me a few things to try so I'll see how next week goes. I only eat meat, eggs, nuts, cheese, vegetables, minimal amounts of brown and white rice, one piece of fruit- some days none and I drink water, tea and instant coffee with milk. Oh I do have a protein powder after workouts too. That's probably the most processed thing I have aside from tea and coffee. This is a perfect example of simply eating too much.

It's frustrating for me, too. Rick can eat pretty much whatever he wants and, unless he really tries, he won't gain an ounce. Or he get up one morning and say, "Gee, maybe I should lose 5 pounds" and, by the end of the day, whoosh! five pounds are gone. To be fair, he has a job where he's on his feet all day long, versus me and my desk job. He has a horrible sweet tooth and is constantly looking for cookies, preferably home-made cookies whenever he can get them. So this diet thing is not working out well for him. I can't bake cookies right now (well, I could, but man, that's just not fair because I would want to eat them, too) and the poor man really can't bring them into the house either. I keep telling him to consider this time as time spent lowering his cholesterol; he is not amused.

Me, well, I can read the dinner thread and swear I've gained five pounds just reading. Part of it that I have such a sedentary job. I sit from the time I walk into work until the time I go home, unless I walk to the bathroom, do my lunch walk, or go out on site to take pictures. I sit. I do try to walk around the building at least once every hour (sometimes every 30 minutes, if I think I can get away with it). Or I'll go into the main planning room and stare out the window for a couple minutes, standing up against the wall. But basically, I'm sitting at my desk, reviewing plans, typing my reviews into the computer, and answering phone questions. It is frustrating sometimes as it's very sedentary. But hey, it pays the bills, I guess.

What makes it bad for women, too, is that we are built for extra padding around the hips and waist....exactly the spot where most of us need to take it off! Frustrating!

Tammat, I can understand how frustrated you must be feeling. It's really hard. Did your trainer suggest a nutritional scale, keeping a food journal, etc? The only way that I can steadily lose weight is if I keep meticulous track of everything I eat. Everything. And then, once I reach my caloric limit for the day, I'm done. I'm just done. It's the only way I can do it. I do have scales, so I know that if I eat an apple, I'm eating 125 calories, for example. There's no guessing. Somebody mentioned that when they're reached their limit, they brush and floss; I do that, too, as I'm less likely to eat once my toofers are clean.

I have also found out that packages lie.
Yeah, they do. For example, on a bag of pretzels, the package says that one ounce of pretzels is 17 pretzels. Wrong. I measured it out....one ounce of those pretzels is 15 pretzels. An ounce of potato chips isn't the 16 chips the package says, more like 13 chips. I forget what the package of cashews said, but it was ridiculous. Here we thought a quarter cup of cashews was OK, because nuts are good for you. Well, they are.....but not that many! And believe me, that all adds up. You don't realize it until you actually see it.

So I guess my biggest help has been my nutritional scales. I weigh everything, even Rick's portions (at his request). If I make spaghetti for dinner, I weigh out 4 ounces of dry pasta for us, then put that in the water. That way, I know that we're eating 4 ounces of pasta (actually it's more like 3-1/2 ounces as 4 ounces tends to be too much for us). Last night, I tossed together a salad for each of us: lettuces, onion, celery, a few radishes, tomatoes, a bit of frozen peas, carrots. And for me, I weighed it all out. My salad was less than 100 calories and it didn't weigh all that much either. I need to do it this way. I need to use the scales. And part of the reason I weigh Rick's serving is because he always says, "You made too much food and you're giving it all to me!" No, I didn't and no, I'm not! I made exactly what I needed to make. (
Sometimes I wonder how we ever stay married.)

Ok, I'll shut up now.
Good luck everybody. Just keep on keepin' on!

Winchester Winchester oh yes I do keep meticulous records too. In fact I'm pretty obsessed about it :lol3: and I love it ;) I too weigh everything. I love myfitnesspal. I always enter things before I eat them ( except the bread I ate recently and that was a bad mistake)
At this stage I only have to cut out my morning snack at 11am. I've been making these yummy savoury muffins. They are 168 calories each so it's not a huge amount to give up. That's 1176 calories per week though. Thank goodness water has no calories plus you can eat as much air as you please :flail:
Ok it's no laughing matter at all but crying uses less energy so it's better to laugh :D
We will all get there. We are learning from each other and we have each other's support.
Awe :grphug:
