I am so excited I went to the store today. I was able to get some fresh fruits and some packaged dole fruit no sugar added. I also got some veggies and fish I have been wanting. I got a spaghetti squash. I have always wanted to try it. I got some ground turkey. I am going to make me some spaghetti with the squash and turkey.

Spaghetti squash is so good. I hate cutting them open though but I learned last time that a couple minutes in the microwave makes that much easier. I like to cook the squash, scoop it out, add sauce to it, put it back in the Shell (or whatever it's called) and top with some cheese. Then broil for a few minutes. Sooo yummy.

149#[emoji]128549[/emoji] All time, heavy weight, except pregnancy. I don't understand. I have not been eating a lot. I have been inactive though. I really need my fiancé to fix that elliptical machine. We had a blizzard yesterday and last night. I'm going to shovel the deck & maybe the driveway. 5'8, age 44. Goal weight is 120 & see how I look & feel at that weight. Hope everyone is doing well.

I'm also 5' 8" and 120 is underweight for that height, even if you have a small frame. I would be very careful trying to lose that much weight. Being underweight has just as many health risks as being overweight. Maybe more.

5'8"

Small Frame 126-139

Medium Frame 136-150

Large Frame 146-167

I have medium to large frame. I'm 34DD-29 1/2-39 measurements. Broad shoulders, wide hips, well, I think they're huge. With no effort, no exercise, no dieting actually having pretty crappy diet naturally size 8, going into size 10's. Ahhhh, size 10 fits so good, not tight, so comfortable but I'm not happy about double digit size. I'm going to sound very unlikeable but I've never had to worry about my weight until recently. I have watched what I've eaten a few times sporadically but never have truly ever dieted. The back surgery in 2013 did not do any favors for me. It was a failed surgery, still have siatica and spinal stenosis and herniated discs. When I met my fiancé in April of 2000 I weighed 118 pounds (wanted to weigh 115.) The vintage CK jeans I was wearing were size 5 Long. It'd be like a modern size 3 or maybe smaller. I ate at McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, all the time. Drank a 6 pack of Pepsi daily. I can't understand what happened to my metabolism. Aging sucks! [emoji]128546[/emoji] I know when I was younger I was sometimes accused of being anorexic. I've never had an eating disorder. I was just naturally slender. My Dad's side of the family are all tall & lean. My fiancé is not attracted to me anymore. I have to do something about this. 120 lbs is thin. I want to be healthy. I can see how I look at 130-135, that is the weight where I felt well & very healthy. That is about when I started having problems with my lower back which caused my weight to balloon where it is now. I went to the doctor, late 2015, with complaint of weight gain, chronic fatigue, low energy, etc. my thyroid was tested, hormone levels tested, etc. ( I was thinking perimenopause may have been a culprit.) Tmi again, but my periods are regular still & completely normal. Thyroid was determined to be fine. Can't blame sluggish metabolism on thyroid. That's when the doctor told me that I'm actually an ideal weight for my height, age, bone structure, etc. I know I'm less active. I'm determined to stay on task here. I had a membership to Anytime Fatness, actually Anytime Fitness but I actually gained weight with my membership and having a personal trainer 1x per week! She was super sweet & didn't push me. [emoji]128522[/emoji] My back really was hurting though. I'm so ashamed and embarrassed by my weight now that I isolate myself. I've never been a social butterfly anyway but now I make excuses to stay home. It never seems like a good time to start dieting & exercise. Maybe I can go back to Anytime Fitness since I don't trust my elliptical machine. I went outside and shoveled snow for a little bit. It's still blowing around though! Hope all is well with everyone!

My fiancé is not attracted to me anymore.
I might sound horrible person saying this, but if you fiancé is really not attracted to you because you are normal weight and not at border of being underweight, then if I were you, I would dump him.

However I doubt very much such being the case, people usually are not so focused on how other person looks, but more of what kind of person other one is, how other one thinks, how there is so called vibes which from my understanding are mental thing more than based on looks.

Where looks seems to play part is getting interested phase, but after that I have observed other things mean more. Typically in relationship, persons support each other rather than demand / except something from each other, that is love part doing it's thing, at least that is what I have observed from normal relationships.

Then again with my experience I might not be best person to trust on that one, I just observe, process data with logic, make scenario analysis and estimate probabilities, I study life and try to help others to get most of theirs, rest is bit of clutter to me really.

Lower back pains I have heard being complained is when diet is not optimal, or when energy deficit is greater than what person can get energy from stored body fat, that is when dieting, of course other reasons can be there.

With other reasons improving core strength, in my understanding helps to carry weight and perhaps decrease pain, however when having medical issues with back, it might be best to consult doctor or some other professional before starting exercise program, they might suggest exercises that will be easier for your back.

Metabolism is annoying one, with age especially, there was time when I could go trough sheet of chocolate, big bottle of Coca Cola, bag of liquorice and too large thick crust pizzas in a day and nothing caught on my waist, these days I have to weight everything I eat and count calories, there is no hope of being even near my proper weight otherwise.

I have perhaps silly idea, why don't you ask your fianceé to go with you to doctor and perhaps doctor could show exercise where you fianceé could help you to reduce strain on your back, working together for better fitness might get him more interested in you than any weight loss ever will.
Or maybe some physician or how do you call those who give people training programs to regain fitness after injuries and such?

@Adoringangel72  I agree with Jtbo if he is finiky about your weight he needs to be shown the door.

In 2007 a few weeks after I turned 30 I meet my ex. When I meet him I was around 185 and a size 15/16. I wasn't small but I carried well because I have a larger bone structure. He used to tell me all the time my body was perfect. Then when I got pregnant after we were together almost a year, he changed. The more weight I gained the less he showed interest. I gained 40 pounds mostly due to toxemia. I tried every thing after having her and couldn't lose weight. I was put on medication and actually gained more.

We eventually separated for different reasons. But he always made me feel like I was worthless because of the weight gain.

I meet my now fiancee in 2010. I was 268 and a 24/26. He adored me. We have two children together. I got up to 300 pounds with the last pregnancy. I looked like a beached whale. He thought I was beautiful despite the weight. He still does. He said he could never, nor any man, say that a woman needs to lose weight especially when she has been pregnant. He has told me he loves me no matter what and that I gave him two beautiful babies.

I am sometimes scratching my head with him. When I say my thighs are too big he says they are sexy. He caused them to get that big. lol. To be honest I often fear if I get to where I want to be he wont want me.

Is he not attracted to you or is it you dont feel comfortable with yourself and that is making you think that? Because that is how I was for a while with my current fiancee.

Adoringangel72, I'm wondering if it's not really your weight. Honestly, for your height, your weight does not sound bad. But you could just be out of shape....and there's a big difference in being over-weight and being out of shape. You've already admitted you're less active. I'm thinking it's that and not really your weight. You can be even a little overweight, but if you're in good shape overall, it's OK.

Heck, when I was in my 20s, I was in great shape and I could eat anything. I'm with you on the Pepsi, too, pretty much every day. Same in my thirties. I was fine. No problems, no weight issues. Nothing. I hit 40, stopped smoking, and the duck doodoo hit the fan. I have four blown disks in my lower back (Queen of lower back pain here), so I can't do just anything. Had knee surgery, so I can't run anymore. I have to be very careful. But one thing I can do? Is walk. I'm sure you can, too.

Social butterfly or not, get your butt outside. Go for a walk. It will not only do wonders for your body, but it will really help your mind and your emotions. Start out slowly....when I first started walking, I did about a mile. Every day, for a week. If you can't walk a mile, that's fine....start with something you can do. Walk for ten minutes in the morning. Do another ten minutes in the afternoon. And increase as you go. I gradually started to increase, maybe added a block or two. Once I was walking regularly, I added some weights and exercised a bit at night, nothing heavy, nothing exotic. Just some dumbbells and started working with them. Threw in a couple sit-ups, a couple of crunches. And so on.

The thing to remember is that you didn't get this way overnight. And you're not going to get back in shape overnight. It takes time and it takes an incredible amount of patience. But you already know that. Do what you can do. Look at it this way.....if you walk 20 minutes on Thursday, that's 20 minutes you didn't walk today. I hate to sound all-cliche-y, but it's the first step that counts. Get your butt out there tomorrow.

(As for the fiance, if he thinks that about you, is he really worth your time? And now, I'll shut up.)

A adoringangel72 , if I weighed 145 lbs, I would look anorexic - and I'm an inch shorter than you! I think the last time I was even near that weight was half my life ago when I was 21 (and I was border-line anorexic then). And I just saw the part about your fiance not being attracted. I think I'd smack him!

Over the last five years my goals has been to get down to 160. Then 170. Now it's 180. I'm actually happy with a little plump. I like having a tush! I'm amazingly more happy with how I look now than I was when I was 35 lbs lighter ten years ago.:D I just want to put some space between me and the 200 mark.

I'm 195 now. I just don't want to hit the dreaded *200*. And I want my clothes fit. Did a horrible job in January. One sick kitty and one obese one (hey, maybe Maple should join the group!) and been obsessing more over their food than my own.

Thank you all for your feedback! I definitely do think it could be my own insecurities making me feel as if my fiancé is not attracted to me anymore. I know that he finds super skinny women attractive though just by how he makes sounds when he sees scrawny models on his phone or TV. He doesn't blatantly come out and call me names or anything that rude. He'll talk about his "friends" at work who flirt with the young, beautiful teen girls who wear tight jeans, low cut tops. He claims he doesn't but I'm sure he does too. Those poor, young girls being ogled by old perverts! Ha, I tell him to "go for it", if that's what he wants. Lol. Young girls want to play with young guys their own age, not dirty old men in their 50's! Lol. [emoji]128516[/emoji]
JTbo, I think I will ask my fiancé to go to physical therapy with me. I do go to PT once a week for rehabilitation for my back. That will also help him maybe understand the limitations I do have too bc of my back bc sometimes he acts as if I'm exaggerating. And he should want to help me be the best version of myself that I can be. I make sure he is fed, has clean clothes, etc. if he needs me, I'm there for him. I accept him how he is. His hair is thinning and I don't care one bit!
LouannJude, sounds like you have an awesome guy. I'm hoping when I become more comfortable with myself, I'll be more confident and I won't feel like my fiancé is wishing I was thinner than I am. I honestly wish he would tell me I'm beautiful though. That adds to my insecurities too, having to fish for compliments and even then, I'm lucky if he compliments me.
Winchester, yes! I've got to just get my butt outside and start walking. Right now, in Iowa, there's like 2 feet of snow but I can walk at the mall until spring and the ice skating arena or even Walmart if nothing else is open. I did it before, I can do it again, after I had my children I never really dieted but I lost the baby weight fairly quickly just by walking. Even when I was toothpick skinny I was never a runner or jogger! [emoji]128522[/emoji] I can walk. My back is what it is. I refuse pain meds so I just deal with it. I used to walk 6 miles a day, just part of my routine, I used to hike too. I didn't do it to tone up or lose weight. It was just fun and I liked being outdoors.
I'm extremely flabby now and out of shape! Maybe it would make a difference if I was a toned 145 lbs?
Donutte, I didn't have a great January. February will be better and we can get back on track. Hope your kitties are all healthy now. Nala Ava Marie is still having her biting episodes but she's lively again and her fur on her belly from her spay is growing back! Maple and Nala can join! Nala Ava Marie is losing her baby kitten look and she's getting kind of chunky!
I did go shovel snow, gave up quickly bc I got cold. Lol. Not sure how many calories I burned. I was reading something that stated the importance of sleep! My fiancé works 3rd shift so in order to spend time w him I'm on his schedule. Maybe that's also taking a toll on me. Good night all. Blessings.

I bought today new scale that measures body composure in addition to weight.

Of course it is not perfectly accurate measure of body fat etc. but I guess I get bit better picture of development than by simply weighting myself.

I do measure my waist of course so I can see if there is any correlation within changes at scale and waist measurement.

This new scale tells me that my fat percentage is now 18.4%, it measures in reality just legs and then does some magic to come up with the total percentage, but I don't know if that might be even close.

Formulas that are used to calculate body fat percentage from BMI give me 20% or 22%.

I try to compare pic I took with that site which shows percentage, however I really can't tell if 18.4% or 22% would be closer?

I'd like to get one of those scales! The scale I have is probably from the 1950's or 60's! It always weighs about 5-6 lbs lighter than the doctor's scales though. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

You just have to keep your eyes open, it was new product in a shop and some kind of intro offer, cost was only 30. Of course it is a lot compared to mechanical scale, but considering how much some of those body composure scales cost it was relatively inexpensive.

It seems to be a lot better quality than my not so old digital scale as it is not so sensitive if I lean bit forwards or backwards, so I'm quite happy of paying that amount.

I am so frustrated I have tried twice today to exercise. It's a short 14 minute routine. Both times I have been interrupted 9 minutes in. I don't understand why I can't just get 15 minutes to myself without being bothered. Then he wonders why I am so short with him.

I mean I cook, clean, take care of the kids and fiances. All I want is 15 minutes to work on me so I not disgusted every time I look in the mirror.

Ok rant over.

Sometimes guys need a sign, real sign that has large letters, guys can be bit thick in that sense, good luck that your next exercise goes without interruptions! :)

Is anyone else doing Paleo?  I lost quite a bit of weight, yes even being in post-menopause (TMI?).  But that was before my mom died.  I'm a comfort food eater.  Gained it all back.  But the diet is one of the best I've ever been on.  Easy to lose weight without ever being hungry.  It's basically a high fat, mod protein, low carb diet.  I'm trying to find the motivation to get back in the swing of it.  Tomorrow is mom's birthday and it'll be hard for me.

Sorry for your loss. [emoji]128549[/emoji] I've never tried Paleo but sounds intriguing. Effective and not being hungry, sounds good. I've actually never truly been on a diet before but I'm wanting to now.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my Daddy two months after I had my daughter almost 3 years ago. I to turned to food. I am trying to do stuff to prevent that by keeping busy. I try to do something special on Daddy's birthday. His two favorite meals was either Hot dogs with cole slaw and Meat loaf with mash potatoes. When it's his birthday I try to fix one or the other. It's not much but it's my way of saying I wont ever forget.

I know birthday's are hard praying for comfort for you.

Thank you!  My nose is running, my face is beet red and it's not even 9am!  So this day looks to be shot already, lol.  I have not eaten my mom's favorite meal since she died which was big limas/ cornbread and cole slaw/ stewed tomatoes and macaroni and cheese.  It's my favorite meal too.  I'm not even sure i could still eat that at this point, not today.  But I will light a candle for her in her room and let it burn all day (a battery operated one) in her honor.  Happy birthday Mom!  I miss you!

I haven't been on the site for a few days, and wow! I see that I have missed a great deal of information and some awesome advice. I'm going to make some coffee in a few minutes and catch up on all of the posts! You guys are amazing because you keep it real...no judgement, and I like that.
