I hope to do another beast workout tonight-there was a commercial the other night for some new thing by beach body-beast workout-I am curious to see what it says-I think my problem is I am over 40 and everything slows down. But I measured my waist today and I think I lost 1/2 an inch. at 38.5. Originally I was 40.5 so there is some loosing going on just not the numbers. I have done my lunchtime workout but not as hard-just to keep from getting stiff in the legs/arms..got a good sweat going on..which hopefully counts for something.

the bad news is I am off work for 2 days and usually that means I have no restrictions-I only bring enough food for one day at work and often eat my lunch right at 7am and then at 9:30 have a snack. nothing for the rest of the day-although today I ate a banana and bar while I was working out-I got FAMISHED and nibbled..it helps...I am now an hour or so away from leaving for the day-ignoring the call of potato chips from the machine-even though they have quite a bit of potassium in them and other trace minerals-AND NO SUGAR!

I will get there-the fact that I am not sore tells me I need to push myself harder..so if it wasn't for my bad knee I would have been heavy lifting squats and lunges and probably don't have such a hardtime loosing-I will get there..tonight is legs-no arms. Tomorrow is arms. And reread the bodybuilding books I have let collect dust for 2 decades..which most is probably not even valid anymore-since they have made so many changes-like now they don't want people doing sit-ups=its been known to cause issues with the back..so I like to follow along those standing up ab exercise videos on youtube-and some of those are HARD!

You need to cycle things, do legs, rest legs and do upper body or something like that.

So after yesterday I did only around 4000 calorie day, chopped firewood quite a bit, it was so hot, +20 in shade, I had to take shirt off and still felt it being bit too warm. How I'm going to manage warmer days, I have no idea, because I won't loose my bike shorts, then I would have nothing on, so I need to find better way to deal with the heat.

Exercising only helps with weight loss, it does not cause lot of weight loss by itself, reason is that even for me my exercising is not more than 30% of daily burned energy, but even half from that is a lot of work, usually it is under so that is why proper diet is so important, sure exercising helps, but often getting tired by doing exercising reduces other activity even without one realizing it and it is quite small addition to daily energy burn when that happens.
Yes I totally agree with this. Usually in my rest weeks from lifting weights I do cardio and try to burn fat. I reduce my calories drastically and I really push my cardio to the max. I get so tired and starving hungry. Last rest week Rohan made me rest. No exercise at all. None. I reduced my calories the same as usual and I had a least an hours nap everyday. I was a bit hungry but it wasn't unbearable. Besides you don't notice hunger when you are sleeping. Anyways on a week with the cardio i usually average 1.8 kilos weight loss. On the week I did no exercise and slept lots I lost 1.5 kilos. 300 grams is not much for all the effort. Exercise is awesome. It makes us feel fantastic, makes our bodies firmer and stronger, it's great for our vital organs and the list goes on and on. However most of us especially as we get older can't expect results without a good diet.
Hey remember we are exercising until we are 100!!! We need to eat healthy in order to live that long. Have you ever noticed that the people that live longer are usually leaner and generally pretty active.

I want to get a fitbit so I can see just how much I am walking. I walked to a play group with my kids this morning, to the park this afternoon and downtown after dinner. I'm exhausted tonight but I always sleep good after a busy day.
Does anyone know if there is a Fitbit Model that also tracks cycling. We were given a stationary bike which we have now in the garage. I will use it on days the weather is too bad, hot, cold, rainy, etc, for walking. That is why I am asking.

I don't think a Fitbit Flex or a Charge will track cycling. I "think" (but am not sure) that the Fitbit Blaze will track your cycling; I think there's an actual Bike exercise for it the Blaze.

I don't know what would happen if you stuck a Flex into your shorts pocket while you were on the bicycle. I know I've said that it didn't work well for any elliptical work, unless I stuck it in my shorts pocket. And even then it was off by a good half-mile or so.

3.5 miles on the treadmill this morning.

We are going to be out and about most of the day today, so hopefully I can get a couple of miles in that way.

I did my chest and abs yesterday. I started to assemble the functional trainer and it appears to have a cross threaded nut on the frame of it[emoji]9785[/emoji]️ I want to just leave it but it needs to be safe.

Yesterday evening around sunset I started riding a bike, after 2 hours I was almost back at home, but stupid gps tracker watch had a glitch and lost whole workout.

I could figure out that ride was around 2 hours, burned 1900 calories, had average power of 277 Watts, but it is bit of annoying when such happens.

Also lately I have got lot of HR spikes so I'm starting to get bit annoyed with a thing.

Maximum heart rate was something around 160 as it won't really go higher these days, average has to be bit above 140 for that kind of speed and wattage.

From old ride I can see that particular route has total of 736 meters (2414 feet) of climbs, distance is 38km (23.6 miles), thankfully there are quite bit of descents too, hills are short and steep.

I still have a cold so haven't done much at all this week. I walked for an hour after work this afternoon.

So frustrating, I was hoping to be up to a 40 minute run by now. Guess I'll have to start again with 10 minute runs and walks to catch my breath.

I managed to get over step goal for Friday, between hitting the treadmill in the morning and then walking around the Dragon and the outlets afterward. Anytime I go over my goal, I am happy. And by the end of today (Saturday), I am hoping to get over 100,000 steps in for this week.

4 miles on the treadmill this morning.

Didn't really have much of any energy today, I did 2 hour recovery ride on relatively easy route (35km / 21.8 miles), which burned 1000 calories, then I did firewood drying place but really had to push myself to get anything done, so didn't get it ready.

Also split few logs, but today didn't accomplish nothing much really.

Need to eat less poor stuff and more proper stuff, I guess that would help.

3 miles on the treadmill this morning.

I did make it to 113,841 steps from last Monday morning to this morning. That's 50 miles for the week. I'll take it. (But I don't think I'm going to do it again for a while. Too hard on my legs.)

I did an hour of yoga this morning. I was OK with the asanas, but the breathing exercises sent me into a coughing fit.

Walked for an hour this afternoon. I saw the deer family again, the forest is really green now so they've got plenty to graze on.

My tracker got really messed up during that one hiccup earlier on a week, yesterday's activity data is not getting synced either, I can see that it was over 23 000 steps yesterday, but it does not show up on web service.

It is now bit over 140 000 steps on this week (shows over 57 miles), but day is not over yet, so I need to check where I ended up tomorrow. It is a lot indeed, whole week's calorie average seems to come up around 4000 calories a day.

You would think that moving this much brings weight down, but not very much so, one has to eat to be able to move a lot.

I have picture of Winchester in my mind, where she kind of floats above the ground and moves at incredible speed, it is so much of walking she does :D

I get lot of steps without moving at all as tracker counts all wood chopping to be steps too, but it is so that all movement really counts.

So I ended up with 144210 steps, not very active day as fixing scooter moped took whole day.

Hopefully next day I will have more exercising as it is last day of nice weather for weeks and I really need to get firewood moving done.

I fixed three fences, that was all workout I did manage to do, oh and lifted weights few times and gave up.

I trained my back and shoulders today with Rohan. He also put me on the scales and my body fat has gone up. Thank goodness he didn't do that a couple of weeks ago because ive been working hard to get it down. :scale:

6.4 hours of exercising today, got in even short bike ride and got best time for hill climb, I'm now fastest climber on that hill by nearly a minute of margin. Of course there is only 6 persons that have attempted best time there, but 15.5mph / 25km/h up a 4% hill for nearly 8.5 minutes is something I'm quite happy with.

Mostly I did firewood throwing and chopping today, there is quite bit of that left, but I'm already wondering what I'm going to do when that is done, maybe I buy more logs and keep on chopping? :lol3:

I've done over 10,000 steps today and it's only 4pm...plus that's only when I have my phone on me. I carry it in my pocket when I walk and it tells me how far I've walked.

I love the pics Norachan Norachan  Thankyou. Is that you with the magnificent curly hair?
I did my biceps and triceps today and lots of much needed housework. I'll have a rest day tommorow and keep going with the housework.

Nice pictures, Norachan! Love your hair!

Monday:

3 miles on the treadmill

3 miles walked during lunch

Alas, I spoke too soon about the treadmill behaving; it died again this morning. I had just started and was just a little over 1/8 of a mile when it bit the dust.
