Today should have been a gym day. I say should have, because I spent 2.5 hours at the adoption area, feeding, cleaning, scooping, playing with cats and talking with people...

Even though I did not really do any real exercise, it was still more than I do at home. I also stood, reached, and bent most of the time...

Tomorrow is a real gym day...

I have found out that exercising for sake of exercising might feel harder workout, but usually seems to burn less calories than doing chores, organizing, cleaning, etc.

Doing twice the amount of work in 1 hour at gym vs doing half the amount of work in 1 hour but keep doing 3 hours and you end up burning more calories.

When trying to reduce amount of fat lower intensity for longer seems to work better for me, also when I'm trying to improve my fitness harder workouts for shorter time seem to work well.

So it is not necessarily worse to spend 2.5 hours doing such things.

Any added movement helps :)

I'm not sure when I last posted? Anyways I did my biceps and triceps and then extra shoulders today. I procrastinated and got started late and I was hungry so I made my after workout protein smoothie and sipped that halfway through my workout. The smoothie was in a glass and I knocked it over. :doh3: That burnt a few extra calories cleaning up that mess :lol3:

Thanks, Columbine!

Did my crunches, legs, and those blasted PT stretches last night.

3.5 miles on the treadmill this morning.

I think my butt is getting better. Yeah, I still have twinges and there are times when my whole left leg just feels wiped out. I just go anyway.  I start out and inside of 30 seconds, my butt starts to hurt. But it's not as bad as it was, on the whole anyway, and after walking for a while, it starts to feel better. It's taking forever to get over this. Some days I feel pretty good; other days, not so much. But I know that the pain is better than it was at the beginning of June.

The woman who does my hair told me that she's been dealing with piriformis sciatica now for over 7 years. I looked at her and said, "Cripes. Just shoot me now." She's in a lot of pain most of the time and lives on Advil. She doesn't exercise, though, so I'm wondering if the exercises are really helping. Doesn't matter.....unless I get too bad, I'm not going to stop.

1 hour of (very) gentle, yin-style yoga today. Still fighting my body and meds changes :sigh:

Pam - I know how hard it is to keep exercising when you're in pain. I think you're amazing

60km (37.3 miles) / 3 hours of bicycling on gravel roads / dual track.

Right after that I did slow 1 mile run.

Feeling bit empty now, time for breakfast or first (and only) meal of the day.

3 miles on the treadmill this morning (Would have done more, but my iPod died and I have to plug it in. I cannot walk without music.)

Decided not to go to gym yesterday; ended up doing a quick dusting, vacuuming, complete wash and change of Artie's 2 litter boxes and a wash of his (my guest) bathroom. I also washed a couple of the litter collecting rugs I have for him, by hand..(scrubbed in tub).

It was a busy day, by the time I was washing down the tub, I had had it....

After I took the trash to the dumpster, I just crashed....

Feeling that even though I did not go to the gym, I still expended some energy and calories...

Not feeling like I lost weight, but that could be because, doctor's orders, I am cutting out one of my blood pressure medications--the diuretic. Seems my Potassium and Chlorine have been on the low-normal end of the range.

Perhaps that is why I get so exhausted in the afternoon, and get periodic leg cramps?????

New doctor, new healthy lifestyle.. so who knows...

Did an hour of vinyasa yoga this morning, then spent an hour and a half just cleaning the cottage kitchen and bathroom....I swear to god, it was so bad in places that I nearly puked :nausea: I'm gagging now just THINKING about it :( I hate it when people leave everything disgusting...and it's ALWAYS when we have people leaving and arriving on the same day :wife::bat:

The worst news? These people want to come back :disturb::cringe:

Artiemom-yes dehydration can make you tired. Are you eating any complex carbs at all? your body still needs carbs for fuel.

Yes low minerals can give you leg cramps. Bananas and sweet potatoes are really good for minerals. also sweet potatoes are a good starch to have as well. I really think you would feel better with some carbs an hour before your workout then your protein afterwards.

I noticed a big difference in my endurance when I have a mixture of both. If I only eat meat or nuts I feel sluggish. Its a weird thing our bodies are.

Yes doing housework burns calories.

The only exercise I got done was half an hour of vacuuming. My head is soaken wet and I had to stop. Even with AC on. I am still not feeling well from the bad news of yesterday so I am laying off the exercise for a few days. At least today I finally ate something. I think the last meal I ate was probably Monday. I have been living off Gatorade and water. orange juice. yesterday I didn't eat at all. but I drink a ton of fluids. I bought some chocolate milk to try for some calories. I don't eat when I have medical emergency cats. Its just how I cope. I am just glad it's over. I don't do nursing well. I can handle a few days but to continuously monitor vitals and do meds in response takes so much out of me but in a way I am glad I was able to do it. Kind of a darned if you do-darned if you don't.

I still have to dump the catboxes. I didn't vacuum for a month as floey has been sick all July and I just couldn't scare her. it absolutely scares her and usually I put her on the porch when I vacuum. So today I have been cleaning up some of the messes I have let go. As they say a dirty house-well when someone is ill and dieing you just don't care.

I did an hour of yoga and an hour of cat walking on Friday.

Nothing on Saturday, went to a BBQ and drank a lot of beer.

30 minutes run today.

Suspect nothing will get done here today. Various things are flaring, and I'm already on the valium. Wanted to do yoga this afternoon, but sleep is looking more likely at this point :anon::sigh:

foxxycat foxxycat hugs to you :hugs: I'm thinking of you.

I was supposed to do squats on Saturday. It didn't happen. I just ran out of time so I had two rest days.
Today I did my back heavy and my chest light and I went for a 10 min jog. I'm starting out with a tiny amount of cardio and I'll see how I go. I don't want to end up fatigued and bingeing on icecream and cookies :scale:

How are you doing this morning, Foxxycat?

Columbine, I'm sorry. I hope you feel better.

3.5 miles on the treadmill this morning.

I walked 107.25 miles in July.

That is a lot of walking!

I got 106.56 miles in July according my activity tracker, but that is only from last 20 days, because of my foot injury. However one should remember that activity tracker counts steps even when riding a bike, for example today I have gotten almost 17 000 steps, even I have walked about 2000 steps at most, so I don't know about these activity trackers, sure they show relative activity level, but walking distance is something fictional, imo.

2 hours and 10 minutes of intense bike riding today, hence lot of steps while it is just afternoon.

That mileage is not from my Fitbit, JTbo; my Fitbit has me logged on for way more miles than that. That mileage is strictly from my treadmill. Anything from my Fitbit is over and above that 107.25 miles. So that doesn't include any housework, any gardening, any walking at the grocery store, at the mall, or any other form of exercise. That is strictly the treadmill.

I am working on getting 10,000,000 steps....that's from my Fitbit.
