Luna, who turned 2 in October has been acting funny for a few days. First noticed her being lethargic and antisocial on the evening of 12/29, and she did not want a treat. She threw up stomach bile that night, but I didn't think a whole lot about it.

Fast forward to yesterday, 12/30 and she did not eat breakfast, and I started to worry that she wasn't eating or drinking because she really was just laying in one corner of my room and not coming out. I called they vet and they said to put her in a room by herself with her own litter box, food and water and then if she hasn't started acting normally to call. From about 2pm yesterday to 7:30 this morning she did not touch her food, use the litter box and my guess is she did not touch the water either.

Called the vet this morning and they said to bring her in. I did, and they took her for the day and said they would let me know when they know something. I wasn't able to actually see the vet this morning because they're booked.

My questions for you guys is this, what do you think they're doing. What can they do for a cat that won't eat or drink. I'm trying to not panic here. Thanks guys.

That's so weird, haven't heard of a vet taking in a cat without talking to the owner first. That just sounds weird. Hopefully they are asking you before everything they do so that you're aware and approving it. Did they mention if they would do any blood work? Or IV fluids? Or anything?? They may have a tech that will also assist-feed but that usually requires knowing what is causing them to not eat (otherwise they may just vomit it back up). There are more reasons than I can count that would cause a cat to not eat or drink.

While this all sounds kinda hinky, I'm glad you did get him to a vet ASAP. Not eating for more than a day can cause a lot of problems with cats.

I think they were just super busy this morning with tomorrow being a holiday and everything. The vet called me a bit ago and she said there's no temp, which is good, and said she wanted to try an IV, which I of course approved.

She said Luna is very stressed there, she hates strangers, so she's going to have me pick her up in a couple of hours and will be sending me home with a type of food to try.

Good to hear they are calling and letting you know what they are doing. They'll probably send you with Hill's a/d, which is supposed to be irresistible to cats. It's also very high calorie which is good.

I just went through something similar with my 3.5 year old. Initially, they thought it was kidney failure, which was happening but was not the root cause of the problem. She had ultrasounds, hydration, antibiotics. Finally third vet did urine culture and found e. Coli infection in bladder. She'd had ten blood tests and five urinalysis and it didn't show up. If they can't pinpoint it,insist on a urine culture. I can't believe the emergency vet and three vets at our vet office didn't find it. It was our local Mobile pet vet that finally did. Good luck with your boo. Hopefully it's something easy like a respiratory infection. It's really hard when they are so young.Hang in there.

While she's there, I'd ask them to run a urine culture and do an x-ray to check for a blockage.  Hope you get some answers soon.
