Hello, I am taking her to the vet tomorrow but as I am a hypochondriac with both myself and my animals I wanted to seek some advice online.

I have a kitten named Perdita that I found outside of the movie theater I work at a few weeks ago. She's about 9 weeks old now. Already had her first vet visit but she has not had any vaccinations yet as I couldn't afford them at the time and wanted to wait until I took her to get fixed... vet said she had roundworms and tested positive for FIV but didn't mention anything else. Dewormed her and also defleaed her, then I was on my way. That was the day I found her so 3 weeks ago about.

So tonight I woke up because my room smelled awful and I thought Perdita had an accident somewhere but couldn't find anything. Ended up staying up and playing with her because she was crazy full of energy, so she's definitely not lethargic at all. But then after an hour or so she started running around just meowing. Ran to a corner and threw up, where I then discovered another pile of vomit, so that was what I had been smelling earlier. And then ran to a different corner to poop. The stool was definitely diarrhea and also had blood and mucus in it, which freaked me out accompanied with the vomiting twice in an hour. I also want to add that a couple weeks ago I noticed that her belly seemed pretty round, but she eats like crazy and my roommate and her mom, who have fostered and adopted out MANY cats, said she is just a fat little kitten and that it's not something to worry about.

She's already been dewormed, but I've been out of town for a week so my roommate was watching her and she said she bought food for her a few days ago. Not sure what kind of food or if it's any different from what she's been eating. And as I said I've been gone for a week so I can't tell you if her appetite has changed but as far as I know she has a crazy appetite. And definitely full of energy still. Immediately after her episode she was running in circles and playing again.

So, any ideas?

Has she been tested for pararsites such as giardia and coccidia?  Also, with the life cycle of the worms, she may need another treatment of dewormer.  Be sure you get her to the vet ASAP. Kittens can go downhill very, very quickly.  Don't have her vaccinated until she's over this stuff.  Also, since she's so young, you'll want to do another FIV test in a month or so since they can come back false when they're young.

You're not being a hypochondriac - these are definitely symptoms to be concerned about.

First, find out what the change in food was.  Second, she will need multiple dewormings (a few weeks apart) and may actually have other parasites.  Ask the vet to run a full panel, testing for giardia, coccidia, etc.
