Hi! I have been a member since 9/11/01, but due to life changes and a long illness, it has been a long time since I have been an active member. I didn't see any familiar usernames, so I thought I would introduce myself. I am retired on disability, but my last job was a taxi driver on Camp Lejuene Marine Base and its surrounding bases. It was a very interesting and believe or not rewarding job. I am sadly, currently catless. All of mine were about the same age, and passed of various geriatric illnesses. I am just healthy enough to care for another cat maybe this spring. mil, who lives with us, does does not care for cats, but she has a sweet old dog that would love to have a buddy, and she gets whatever she wants. Anyway, I'll back to visit and see all the pics of all the sweet kitties. Later!

Thanks for the nice welcome back. mil has finally given in on having a cat, so we will be looking in a few months, during kitten season.  I really wanted an older cat, but dh wants a baby, so a baby it is. As long as it is fuzzy and purrs, it is fine with me.

There's almost always kittens at the shelter, actually - and cats do great adopted in pairs. It's not much more work to have two cats versus one, and they tend to do better with socializing in pairs - any chance on compromising? Some shelters give them away free (or at least with a much lower fee), vaccinations and everything. That way everyone's happy - cats included.
